How often do you upgrade?

As you can see, it's nearly been a decade since I upgraded.

Mine-
E5300 Core2Duo
3(2+1)GB DDR2 @600MHz
GeForce GT730
80GB HDD
Crappy, knockoff PSU and Mobo

I'm not shitting you. That's my current rig.
I'm upgrading to a 4790K/980Ti by the end of May hopefully.

How much distance do you keep between buying better hardware? Or do you just grab it as soon as it hits the shelves?

whenever my current one breaks and i can't fix it

>new generation of GPUs around the corner
>upgrading now

You've waited a decade, you can wait 2 more months

This desu but I add random parts when I'm not broke enough
I7 920 and random intel mobo
120GB ssd, 1TB hdd
R9 280x
Hyper 212 memevo
6GB of random ram
1000 watt psu
Bought it used

my core2quad Q9400 motherboard died.
I sold the 8GB (4x2GB) sticks on ebay for 120.00 and bought a complete G3258 based system to replace it last month.
>>
I have many parts laying around so when something gets too outdated i replace it. Currently using a 4th gen i3 and have an i5 and i7 laying around for future upgrades. I like to buy what will last.

Adding and upgrading perfectly fine parts from time to time, usually I get a full cycle with a year.
>>

Nah, I don't think so. I'll upgrade to DDR4 and Pascal in about 5 years.

I'm building this right now.
4790K
16GB (8x2) DDR3@3200 (Vengeance Pro)
980Ti
500GB SSD
4TB @ 7200rpm HDD

1440p gaming (don't need 144Hz) and some very light video editing. I think it'll do.

Unless, like >>54403402 said, something fucks up beyond repair.
>>
>>54403446
Can you give me some FPS benchmarks? How good is the 280x?
>>
>>54403474
I hear that's a good chip. Isn't 2 core a major bottleneck now though?

>>54403493
How do you have those parts lying around? Job? Richfag?

>>54403503
One year might be too short for any visible improvement in what you're doing. Expensive too.
>>
>>54403697
Job. I have savings and it goes towards things I will need in the futures. Investing in a line of parts like that is pretty good. And I got most of them on sale.
