MyWOT has been secretly funded by leading western companies to eliminate existing and all future competition thus protecting their absolute market domination. When Internet was still free, large companies were losing profits to smaller and medium sized businesses. They came up with a plan. MyWOT was born. It sneaked its way onto about a million of computers (true stats) like a parasite, like a virus, fooling people with their free service, free plugin and whatnot. Now people can only visit their websites, purchase from their websites, because their websites are green by default. Those companies know what you're doing as well, what you like to visit, buy, watch and they will adapt to it, they will offer you stuff based on that data.
It's a ring of businessmen that finance these sort of services. They want to stay on top. Usually they start a free service, something everyone will accept, because it's free, then they manipulate public opinions, shift interests which drives money their way. It's what Facebook is anyway, it's a system of different services that are all connected together with sole goal of driving money into pockets of true owners who hide behind people they picked to have relations with the public. They usually pick one guy to be the face, frontman of such service. Then they create a legend about them, example: "this one studied this and that or didn't, had an idea, it was hard to realize such idea, he was very determent and persistent, so he made it, etc.". They pick such people that look plain and simple so that common people can think that's achievable for them as well and dream about those goals. Stories are constructed in a careful manner so they get accepted by the majority of people. But it's always a story of struggle, hope, determination and success after many years of trying. It's, of course, all fake, but people don't know that.
