Does it include motherboard cost?
If not you can get 12 core opteron CPU's that grind code like a boss.

I don't get why you would want a powerful system for compiling code.
Assuming you work for a company, the less powerful the pc you're working with, the longer the compile times, the longer the breaks you can take.
If everything is compiled in a matter of seconds, you never get to take a break.

I'd go with an old thinkpad if I were you.
