What are the chances of getting a Cintiq for cheap?

Saw a Cintiq companion 2 listed on amazon for 1000usd, the next morning it was gone.

usually they're 2500. How often is it that you find a deal like that? Is it super rare and I was unlucky?
>>
Yes, but why do you need the CC2? It's a fucking hot bed
Just get a 22" HD or equivalent alternative
>>
>>54388101
It's portable.

I'd like to get a 22", but I also want to draw at more places than just my desk.

Also what are you saying yes to? Do you think I'll never get a chance like that again?
>>
>>54388159
Usually you'd scoop this thing up on Black Friday for cheaps.

Huion 22" = $800
Average desktop setup = $650
Sketchbook + pencils/charcoals = $12
Total = $1,512. Cheaper and very functional
or
Surface Pro 4 + Type-cover(i7, 256GB) = $1550
ASUS PA248Q (100% sRGB) = $300
MDP to HDMI cord = $10
Total = $1,860. Portable digital art and still $340 cheaper
Step it up VAIO

To be honest the only benefit most high end tablets have over others is the display on the screen.

I have a 60$ Huion H610 and it's pretty ok compared to the cintiq I use at work.

Does pretty much the same thing, no hotkeys though.

Get an iPad Pro instead. I do not regret it one bit, Procreate is great. You can even export your files as PSD to iCloud Drive if you need to keep working on it on a PC.

I was going to get a Cintiq 27QHD but now I think I'll just wait a bit longer, the iPad Pro suits my non-professional needs very nicely, and I can wait for Wacom to catch up.

Fuck Microshaft. The original inventors of Embrace, Extend, Extinguish (now Google are doing it, so fuck them, too!).

How are they doing it with the SP4? The Surface line has been a thing for a while
>>

>Cintiq companion 2 listed
It's trash.
It's only good used as a tablet for a real PC, it's inner specs are so fucking bad it's borderline unusable.

They aren't, actually, right now. But watch what happens if they are able to gain enough market share...

I'm an oldfag who will always just hate M$ for their previous anticompetitive behavior.

Now it's Google that we actually need to start moving away from, and supporting alternatives to.

> All of this has happened before, and it will all happen again.

Pic tangentially related.
>>
>>54390990
What?
I have on that I use as a mobile drawing tablet. What would you think makes it unusable?
>>
>>54387870
dude just save for a cintiq. i know it sucks but all alternatives are terrible, i've tried them. Now have a cintiq and it was worth the money.
>>
>>54392461
Well it's just easier to use windows when using multiple art programs. CSP doesn't have Linux support.

There's no reason not to have an art machine that uses windows and a normal PC for your other needs.
>>
>>54393002
CPU ang GPU so weak people seriously suggest using it on decreased screen recolution.
Maybe you can sketch simple shit with it, but i don't think you can paint seriously with it.

If I wanted to work at starbucks for some reason i'd get a chunky heavy large portable workstation and a fucking huion with me.
>>
>>54393820
I use it for sketching in Corel Painter and painting in Photoshop fine enough. Did end up getting a desktop with a 27QHD eventually just due to ergonomics, only major difference is freedom to not care about layers while at the desktop.
>>
A surface pro 1 is like 200 nigga

Battery life is like 4 hours but beggars can't be choosers
>>
>>54394229
The Cintiq Companion 2's is like 2 hours, FYI.

Different anon here. I do a lot of B&W comic lineart work, and some basic color work on occasion. I was considering the CC2 as a workstation I could use to easily hang out with friends, or even just move about the house as I work.

I have been working on a laptop with slightly lower specs, save for the GPU, for about 5 years now, with an Intuos 5 as my tablet. For me specifically, a CC2 would be a step up CPU and RAM-wise, and it would also be my first screen tablet.

Would you consider it worth it under
those circumstances?

I mainly use Clip Studio Paint, and from what I understand, that program relies more on your RAM and CPU than your GPU, if it even supports hardware acceleration like Photoshop. In your opinion, how much would the Iris 6100 integrated graphics harm productivity in digital art?

Pic related is the kind of stuff I work on. Please excuse the subject matter. It's a collaborative work, but I handled all the lineart.

Most art programs are almost purely RAM intensive, you'd rarely need more than an iGPU and a ULV processor unless your workflow includes 3D programs like Zbrush (CPU-intensive, don't be fooled) or Sketchup
>>54392461
I know Googles' been crushing in E-mail, content-sharing and search engines, but where else are they?
Also have you been living under a rock? M$ still is trying to EEE with W10
>>54394545
Nice lineart, Anon. I can't speak for the CC2 as a tablet though I hear it gets to house-fire levels of hot, though most say it's still the best porta-tablet out there
>>
>>54394981
As someone who owns one, the heat levels aren't too bad unless you're covering the fan vents. In which case those can get hot. But, the fans themselves definitely make themselves known once anything makes them kick in.

I bought it new, which is a good thing because they have a surprisingly high failure rate from what I can tell. Had to RMA the first one because it suddenly died, and others have similar complaints.
