oh, yeah i definitely see some resemblance there. i picked up the orient for $100 and put a brown leather band with some white contrast stitching on it. it definitely looks and feels far more expensive than it actually was. pretty satisfied with it so far. it's not automatic but eh, that kind of thing will come later.

I think that image is probably a better representation of some fake buyer. Who lusts so hard after some swiss shit that they're going to open their wallet for any chink shit that tries to mimic it to grab his shekels instead of buying something decent, like a Citizen or Seiko or some microbrand in their price range.

why?

No.
I looked at the website and the designs, and even without checking the price, I know they're overpriced.
"swiss luxury" oversized garbage with the cheapest ronda or eta they could find, garbage design, a french-sounding name that has nothing to do with watches.
literally the only appeal of the brand is that it's swiss made, and we all know that counts for absolutely nothing.
>>
>>54389898
what buy instead. looking for a nice diver
>>
>>54390080
What's your budget? What style are you looking for?
>>
>>54390112
$600 give or take. Just a classic looking diver, really like the look of the submariner and seamaster 300.
>>
>>54390174
Going for a lower budget options first.

Not exactly the same style, but look at Seiko's various offerings,SRP777, SKX007, the Monster. The submariner look is really overused.

Otherwise get the Orient Ray II, looks like a sub without being a straight out copy of one.
>>
>>54390208
I was looking at the ray II a fair bit, but im unsure about the quality due to the cheap pricing.
>>
>>54390215
Orient usually delivers some quality watches even at lower prices. But consider the following, the price of the watch doesn't always fully reflect the actual quality.

I got the MK.1 Ray for over a year now and i'm very pleased with the quality, though i don't have the bracelet.
>>
>>54390174
Obris Morgan Explorer 2 (although quite long lug-to-lug, and probably hard to find now)
Seiko SRP775 (but the case design is very different from a classic diver)
Steinhart Ocean One (very much a Submariner "homage")
Squale 20 atmos

>>54390215
I have a Ray myself (>>54389030 ). It's quite good, but the movement isn't great (the lack of hacking and handwinding), and the day window and extra pusher are a bit "quirky" (which I like, but you might not be into). The bracelet is very decent for the price (I got it for 110€ on bracelet).
The thing I dislike the most about it after wearing it for about 6 months is actually the shape of the lugs. I would have prefered something more straight, with less curves.
>>
>>54390080
soki sub :^)
>>
>>54390282
Now you're just confusing the boy.

Were talking about the Ray II with the newer hacking and handwinding movement. The lugs are nicely curved if you're not strangling your wrist with it.

>>

Oh and my bad about the new Ray, I didn't know it was available already. You do get rid of the pusher and gain a better movement then, for sure.
I believe it's not priced quite as aggressively as the "old" model though?

Alright, well a mechanical movement had potential then. They are prone to damage by serious shock and vibration, so a mechanical movement wouldn't be a good choice in you used a hammer and chisel or a jack hammer

I wanna buy a Seiko with a 6R15 movement, possibly a watch that doesn't cost more than ~350 and one that I can wear in every situation and with a bracelet. My wrist is 16cm, unfortunately.

I like the sarx017 but it might be to big for my wrist, the sarx017 but it's not something you can wear casually and it costs a lot, the alpinist, sarb017, but not the green one, the Cocktail time as well.

THe japs only give their orient models model numbers.
eg. "Mako" is just one of the many faggy names given to orient watches by fags on the internet.
The orient retailer in the US, having springboarded to popularity by shilling on WUS, has maintained this custom of giving nonsensical names to watches that come to them with only a number.

Blame watch forum faggots and those that pander to them in the US.

Why do people like this exsist? The only reason I can see why people would buy a fake is due to trying to impress others. What the fuck are people like this trying to prove? The whole idea of an expensive watch (brands such as Rolex, Tudor, Patek, JLC and more) is to understand and experience the quality of a well engineered timepiece that you have obviously worked hard to earn. You purchase it to impress yourself with it because you feel that you earned the luxurary of a good quality piece.
Not to give in to not trying to save and purchasing a cheap, Chink fake that doesn't have a quarter of the quality the original has, has almost no if not any QC, doesn't have nearly as much perfection in the piece and will most likely last 2-3 months until it dies or gets forgotten about.

So enjoy your Chink fake watch pleb friend, you'll be the coolest kid on the block when you mislead what little to any friends you have into believing it's real pleb friend :^)

My dad is 58 and he has an automatic Rolex his dad gave him when he was 18 and it's still perfect

I'm now 18 and my dad didn't give me a Rolex, but I'm about to collect my first serious paycheck and I'm now employed somewhere where everybody wears a Rolex

So what should I get? Keep in mind I have girly faggot wrists. I've tried my dad's metal bracelet Rolex and it felt a bit too heavy, but kinda nice, hefty.
I'm currently wearing a cheap automatic Citizen, with a black leather strap.

My most expensive watch is old and not waterproof and kind of delicate, so no. Also it's a gold dress watch so I probably wouldn't want to wear it evey day of my trip.

My travelling watch is usually my SKX007, it's rugged enough to do anything but on a bracelet it also looks decent enough to wear with anything in most situations. If I had a nicer diver I would probably wear that instead, but I like my SKX enough that I really don't want any more divers.

Thinking of getting a F91w because of the cheapness (poor uni student) but I haven't worn a watch in many years and am worried that the plastic strap may be uncomfortable. Is this a real concern with the F91w? Anyone have any experience?
>>
>>54388536

I worked as a roughneck in the oil patch for a year and wore a Timex Expedition every night. My primary tool was a full sized sledgehammer.

>>54388615
Hahaha. Two bullshit myths there.

First of all it's not getting that hot because it's on your wrist and 200 pounds of mostly 98.6 degree water makes a great heat sink.

Second, get a watch with a legit pressure rating and you're fine. Dynamic pressure is a myth when it comes to watches. A stream of water moving fast enough to count as 100m of pressure would be more than fast enough to knock the watch right off your wrist.

A legit excuse is you don't want food particles and shit getting stuck in the watch and strap.
>>
>>54400503
I haven't had problems with it, but I really like NATO straps and other cloth straps, they're more comfortable to me. Also anon you don't HAVE to get the F91w, there are plenty of poorfag options.

An explanation of some Casio dial text since I know /wt/ rightfully hates dial paragraphs.
>TOUGH MVT
The hands will align themselves to the indices (includes seconds obviously) automatically. Some models have it at a set interval, some have it after it detects a shock that moved the hands and some have both
>TOUGH SOLAR
The solar cells can use any kind of ambient light to charge, not just sunlight; weird name I know

The watch can sync up to satellite for atomic time.
