I don't understand how coupld people stand using these ancient and at-best "fallback" terminal emulators like xterm and rvxrt.

They literally don't even have tabs. If you want a lightweight terminal emulator but still want to have modern features I'd recommend Xfce-terminal or Lxterminal

Most people prefer to use something like tmux or screen to provide tabs

tmux?

tabs take up too much screen space and xterm can be configured to use any font you want /shrugs/

Nice to see you, Jordan.

>>54378609
Why use a multiplexer that shits in the shell when you can do proper tabbing in the terminal emulator?

By doing actual tabs you're also giving yourself multi-processing for free.

>>54378610
What's wrong, anon?

>>54378622
You can configure those things too in modern terminal emulators, you know.

I have to recommend against this because it lacks a lot of basic customization. Xfce's terminal is alright.

That's why Linux dominate all devices except front-end devices right? Satellites, servers, embedded devices all run Linux. Windows lost anon
>>
>>54378785
>Windows lost anon
Except now Windows has Ubuntu built in. You just have to turn the feature on and type bash in a command prompt and it installs Ubuntu

Guake, it's pretty cool to have a drop down one.

Used terminator before and terminology before that.
>>
>>54378811
Won't every catch on with non x86 devices, embedded devices (which are a majority) or servers.
Linux's lifeblood are embedded devices and servers

Sure it might be handy for development, but that's about it.
