They care about freedom, but not enough to spend money working on linux drivers, dunno why they don't just completely make them open source
This is my only gripe getting AMD. If you're not picking Tonga, then you're fucked. I want to pick up Polaris or Polaris to replace the 3.5meme but am afraid.

Proprietary decoders. That's why AMD is working towards a hybrid solution. They don't own the rights to everything contained on their cards.
