I knew this answer was coming and was actually trying to bait you into responding so that I could detail my solution
You see, when text is highlighted, it's automatically copied to a separate clipboard, and can be pasted with the middle mouse button. This isn't always convenient though, so I've bound xf86paste to the calculator hotkey on my keyboard. A+ solution and doesn't affect muscle memory for other applications.

I'm in one of those stereotypical big college fraternities and going to my CS classes is such a 180 from the people that I normally hang out with. I try to just sit near the most normal looking person I can find whenever I go to class.
The most painful thing to listen to is guys in those classes attempting to talk to the few (and ugly) girls there.

not that guy, but the highlight / middleclick / xsel is beyond inconvenient.
I know this is my own ADD kicking in, but I highlight everything. When I am reading something, I highlight the paragraph makes it easier for me to focus on what I need to read.
In my text editor, I highlight stuff so every instance of that word is highlighted, which helps me when I am programming.
I highlight stuff all the time.
I would rather disable the ctrl+shift+c debugger or remap it to something else.

the only bummer is when I have text in the "quick search" bar in firefox and I highlight it to delete it and then my copied text is replaced with what I just deleted
