No. All of the IPs owned by Opera's VPN are banned on 4chan.
>>
>>54377350
No it doesn't. They showed comparisons in dev blogs and it was still slightly faster/less ram. This adblocker is written in low level language, not JS so there will always be and advantage. It is still very basic though, you for instance can't add new lists so you should stick to ublock for now anyway.

Time for some protips

1) To remove the seachbar in the new tab page, along with other nice options, open Settings, then Browser, then click on an empty space (to focus the settings panel) and press

Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A

And the power settings menu will appear.

2) To delete the default search engines (to add Y as the quick search for YouTube, for example) just go to the Opera's installation root (you can find the path in O-Menu>About Opera>Paths>Install), then change to the ".../21.0.1432.57/resources" subdir, You should find there the "defaultpartnercontent.json" file, rename it to e.g. "backup_defaultpartnercontent.json", then relaunch the Opera,

Now the default search egine list should be empty

3) Look for the "Download Chrome Extesion" extension to use all the extensions available for Chrome. There are some nice Opera exclusive extensions like sidebar add-ons.

4) You can edit the thumbnail of the Speed Dial elements in the window that appears when you pin a site.
>>
>>54376519
Chrome has some bloat, specially about extension support, it loads bloat in order to run web apps.

Also, Opera's adblocker is faster than any shit Chrome has.
>>
>>54376082
It also works for webms.
>>

It and SeaMonkey are the only halfway decent choices ever since Opera died. I'm not saying they're amazing but they're definitely the best choices for a browser that still receives updates.

>>54394863
Who said I was a Firefox user? And I was talking about Chrome but I guess most of those apply to Chropera as well.

Have you not heard the news? They gutted the browser and created a shitty Chromium based failed abortion in 2013. Sure it may be the best Chromium based browser, but that's like saying out of all the piles of shit, this pile smells the nicest. Ultimately it's still shit.

I don't even think Chrome is that ugly. In fact, I think it has a great UI because it's small and fast. Literally perfect if it would look a little bit better.

>We are a major contributor to the Blink rendering engine, second only to Google.

>Since the release of Opera 15, our first Chromium-based browser, Opera’s engineers have been partnering with our Google counterparts to improve the performance of the rendering engine Blink. We’ve leveraged our expertise from our 15 years making our old Presto engine work well on old machines, and you can read lots of nerdy details on the mechanics of what we’ve done in our developer blog post.

>We’ve also been contributing heavily to other ways of improving the web; for example, Blink/ Chromium’s way of showing multicolumn layouts was written by Morten from our R&D Department. Rune from R&D has done lots of work on improving the performance of styling pages so that they render faster. Sigbjorn has played a central role in the soon-shipping Oilpan project to improve how Blink / Chromium cleans up memory (therefore using it more efficiently). We’re also active in Blink Chromium’s Security and Memory teams.

>By collaborating with other companies on our shared code base, implementing our own user interface and features on top of that, and iterating rapidly, we’re keeping you on the fastest, most secure browser we can build, while helping to make the web better for everyone.

>>
>>54395594

:*
>>
>>54395670
Opera Turbo just lowers the resolution of all the images and videos that you request to save bandwidth. It's an objective downgrade of the user experience.

Anon you can't just tell websites to downsample images on the fly.
>>
>>54395866
websites don't do it, anon

there is similar technology called "data saver" in chrome for android

everything is routed through a server (opera's, in this case) which downsamples before sending it to your browser, thus saving data on the end-user side

don't fight shit until you've at least googled it
>>
>>54395866
>How does it work?
>The pages you visit go through one of our servers. The server identifies pieces of the page that can be compressed. It shaves off image pixels and corrects video buffering. Then, it sends back these smaller-sized pieces to your device.
Translation: They compress the text on webpages to save you almost an entire byte per website, and they lower the quality of the images and videos you request to actually save you data.
>>
>>54395888
>>54395918
So it doesn't work on encrypted connections and serves to monitor what I browse and build a profile on me.

No thanks.
>>
>>54395964
To be fair, it also encrypts the compressed information, so it's a good idea to use on public wifi if you don't have a VPN.
>>
Tested Opera Mini, Lightning is still way better.

Will test Opera vs. Firefox when I get home
>>
>>54395659
>>54395726

You're a fucking moron, Opera Turbo is a godsend. It lowers image resolution (a setting that can be changed) and compresses the website. When you're on a slow connection and using half the data you would be it's fucking great.
