I'm planning on learning some Python this summer though as my first language.
Is that a good one to start with?
>>
>>54373126
Yeah, I'm American. I have seen to many of my peers get majors in CS and are Jobless/ working in entry level jobs.
>>
>>54372930
Because I don't need to do so. Because I don't have anything I want to write.
I know that may sound odd to you, but not everyone WANTS to learn to code.
Why be a "jack" of all trades and not even be a very good one when you can specialise in something you will actually do well and/or profit from and do whatever else?
Sure, coding can be a hobby and I've got nothing against those who do; but not everybody NEEDS to.
Hell, that is WHY there's such an issue in the first place; everyone thinking they have to learn code and get a job in it, providing all these shitty coded programmes just because rather than having a smaller, more skilled workforce, companies go for the less skilled but more of them because they can't afford to try negotiate their pay rates.

>>
>>54373222
I can understand that is because Python is easier, but it has atrocious syntax, is one of the slowest platforms, will teach you bad practises and will not translate well to learning something better later on, because it's """pythonic""". Your friend is suggesting you learn Python, and then forget it and learn a better language.
>>
I program only when I need my computer to do something for which no software already exists, which is very rarely.
>>
>>54373146
I started with some small android apps and a part time web dev job with my school's library. This helped me get a summer internship at a decent company after my 3rd year, so it wasn't too hard getting interviews for full time jobs during my 4th year.
In general make sure you apply to a fuck ton of companies. Lots of companies pay relocation and housing for summer internships, so just send your resume out everywhere.
Also helps a ton to ask people (who are already working at a company) for referrals.

>>54373169

Germany is a good target.
And don't feel intimidated if everything is in German and you didn't master German, just apply for a Ausbildung(training) which are payed cause its illegal not to pay interns in Germany.

I applied for a e-commerce consultancy designing business applications in Munich was fucking great there in that city.

And just once you are there just try to learn some German, almost most of them know basic English.

After some 10 applications i got an internship.

Over 60% of the userbase are unintelligent people that think they are special.

programming takes patience and intelligence.
Like someone said way up at the top, "why even read?" That is these kids' mentalities these days. You realize, most people, common people, just use the internet for searching for something and wasting all their time on Facebook spying on other peoples' lives?
Facebook takes up most of the internet bandwidth and it's useless. It serves the sheep, it sucks the time.
tl;dr
people are so lazy and stupid today, programming is beyond the scope of these kids. They just want to rot their brains staring at their phone, primarily vicariously living out others' lives through the useless timesuck called Facebook. They have little intelligence, no patience, and no skills.
>>

I know how to program to the level required by Chem, not the autistic level OP is talking about, or the level cakeboys like you paint all over GitHub walls.
Much in the way a Mechanical Engineer doesn't need the level of algebra like Electrical Engineers study, or Electrical Engineers and Programmers don't need Geometry as much as a Mechanical Engineer needs it.

As far as "Engineers of the past" go, you can talk shit when you have graduated Chemical Engineering. Till then, you have no substance or authority on making such far-fetching ideological statements.

Programing isn't my interest, never has been, never will be. If i learn it, it is out of necessity and only the necessary level of it. My interest is Chemistry primarily. As such, i have answered OP's question.

At best i am required to know how programing works at a fundamental level for the sake of adaptivity in terms of knowing how to use simulation and database programs that are made by the programing department.

Good intuition but in English-ish the solution goes something like:
>sort the list
>using this sorted list make the first (and smallest) number 'a'; the second largest number 'b'; and the last (and largest) number 'c'
>if a^2 + b^2 = c^2 (pythagorean theorem) then a, b, c is a triple
>if a^2 + b^2 > c^2 then make 'b' the next lowest number in the list and try again
>if a^2 + b^2 < c^2 then make 'a' the next highest number in the list and try again

If any of you enterprising anons want to learn more: this is a small twist (added in the pythagorean part) on the 3SUM problem which has a theoretical lower limit of theta(n^2). This is also a Google interview question, so yes, it is relevant to real life you NEET contrarian bastard.

This.

And no one can read anything unless it's a full on instruction set. Pedantic and shallow come to mind but even that's been memed by them. I can imagine them saying to thesmelves "look at this memer, he's going to cry".

It's just a pain dealing with these guys. But what am I saying? I do actually code!

I'm a pretty bad programmer, and the only language I can stand is C#. I only program every couple years when I have a problem that can't be solved with any available software and is easy enough for me to make.
