Want something cheap to play BF4 and GTA5.

Was thinking about getting cheap server for that.

Can get very small Fujitsu MX130 with 8 core opteron 3280 2,4ghz 120gb ssd and 16gb ram for $100.

Limitations are 250W PSU and low profile PCI-E slots.

Is there a GPU that can fit into those constrains and in combo with above mentioned CPU deliver 40-50 fps@1080p on medium in something like BF4?

GTX950 won't probably be enough for these games and requires at least 350W PSU. So no, there is no such GPU in the GTX series.

A PS4.

>fujitsu

what on earth compelled you to even put forth the effort to ask about that brand? You'd be better off with Acer

GTX950 is 90W card, 3280 TDP is only 65W, this will most likely work with no problems.

It's what I can get for cheap.

The problem isn't going to be getting a GPU, the problem is that the CPU is crap by todays standards.

It may be an 8 core chip, but it's slower than a high end core 2 quad. Each core of that chip is a little above a high end pentium 4 in speed, which means it won't cut it for most modern games, especially not GTA V.

Those games have Core 2 Quad as minimum specs because each core is 3 times as fast as the cores in that chip. I have one (dual CPU server) and it's OK for rendering, but other than that it's useless. Save your money for a better CPU first, you can get second hand Xeon kit with X5400 range CPUs for not too much more, and they're a hell of a lot more powerful

Yeah that's why I'm asking, don't know how well games scale with high number of slow cores these days.
>>
basically they don't.

It's a fairly new chip, but it's a lot slower than something like an FX6300 because it was designed to be low power first and foremost.

If the server doesn't gimp the turbo function then it would probably be manageable, but you'll want to see if you can replace the PSU. Low profile power supplies are like $50 on amazon, but those servers frequently use non-standard power connectors.

And I wouldn't expect a server to come with a PCIE connector for a video card either.

This might work http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127836&cm_re=N750ti-2GD5TLP-_-14-127-836-_-Product

I wonder what kind of improvement that made as a cooling solution.
>>
that picture is of the inside? passive cooling? Probably want to pick up a cheap $8 40mm fan and attach with wire.

If you can keep the CPU temps low it should, in theory, boost 4 of the cores by 50% pretty much all of the time, which should make it roughly an FX-4100, which can handle most games today.

Just make sure it can actually boot addon video cards. I've got a dell server (T310) that refuses to boot anything but onboard video, but I don't know if that's by design or cause the board is borked

For what it's worth, gta5 runs fine at 1080p on an Alienware alpha / steam machine.

I've seen the i5s refurb for about $300.
>>
>>54371515
Why not a used workstation with an lga1155 i5 or i7?

Then just add your gpu and psu.

Never thought of that, thanks for remark.

AMD APU runs these games at ps4 quality, at 90W, for half the price

When are next gen APUs coming out?

950 will be fine since a 750 ti already poops on the ps4.

>8 core opteron 3280 2,4ghz
Get a new i3

>120gb SSD
better get a cheap HDD when you're budget limited.

>16gb ram
8 gb is plenty

Also you could look into getting 2nd hand parts.
