It's a fucking incredible amp, but if you're gonna get one I'd go for something else. I have the HT metal 60, and while it's good for 'metal' tones that's about it. Get one of the HT stage series, or an artisan if you're a fender kinda guy.
However, if you're already with a peavey i would absolutely look at some of their lunchbox amps. They have a classic 20 head and matching cab which is a fucking beast for those crunchy rock tones

All sorts of stuff. For one of my more recent projects I used it to determine my filters were working correctly. I did a frequency sweep and verified that the peak voltage was within the passband of my filter. Also used it to verify the output of a related peak detector. It's good for probing circuits and making sure signals are where they're supposed to be and there's nothing weird happening like digital noise leaking into to analog devices. Also the top oscilloscope is a DSO with a built in 16 channel logic analyzer and that has proven to be pretty useful in producing timing diagrams when I'm doing work with digital stuff. It really is one of the most useful instruments you can have.
