I work for an organization with 30,000 active users, and about 80% of our servers run Linux/Solaris. We have 4 RHEL Samba servers, 2x as a load balanced domain controller, 2x load balanced taking care of our 20TB share. We also have 4 load balanced RHEL LDAP servers. We do have a single Windows AD policy server thrown in the mix, though.

Mail used to run on Linux, but has since been migrated to Office365.

It is superb in multithreading against Intel, that was its selling point back in 2011, but it's not a bad CPU at all.

Looking how Quad cores are still costing more then the old FX from 2011 what's brand new right now around 90eur.

Just checking some benchmarks shows that the single core performance against a HT'd 8core i5 is same and multi core just barely lower score (12%).
