Just installed the 6.0 release for my T-Mo G3 and the phone charges slow as shit. Slower than normal charging on 5.1, let alone Fast Charge.

What gives?

copied from old thread:

Moving from a first gen Moto G LTE. Thinking of picking up a Galaxy S4. Am I retarded?

>$0 from my carrier, on the cheapest contract
>CyanogenMod
>IR blaster

>Twice the resolution of my current phone
>Replaceable battery
>MicroSD slot for sharks

Only downgrade for me would be the lack of a radio. Is there a better choice out there? I'm okay with chink shit and buying outright.

Smartphones are not popular kind of technology (compared to Virtual Reality, PC hardware, coding, various OS etc.) on /g/, so it's useful to put that small circle of interest under one thread. Would you like to see out of 100 threads seeing 30 of them related to:
>NEED NEW PHONE PLS HALP
>MY PHONE WONT LOAD PORN
>TABLET SCREEN REKT WAT DO
or just one thread that you can easily hide if you're not taking part in it? Also, me (or someone else) creating /spg/ makes it easier for other people to ask fast and important questions while not wasting time creating new thread and/or waiting till someone notices his single thread on last page.

Maybe new release of 6.0 isn't "optimized" enough and therefore struggles with the older hardware? Search up on Google - maybe someone has similar issues, or maybe it's just you alone?
>>
>>54359754
Literally said Cyanogenmod...

I have Note 3 with CM 12.1, works excellent
>>
I'm selling my Nexus 5x and getting some extra cash and buying a Moto X Play off a guy.

Is there any safe way to tell if the phone's battery / software is good when I meet in person? Software wise I can easily put in my sim and browse for a min but what about battery life?

Isnt buying used so fucking risky?
>>
surprisingly, the swift gets much less negative reviews. They're pretty much all 5 star reviews. Haven't seen any complaint about battery either. Maybe they're not as critical since it's cheaper?
>>
>>54359774
>Maybe new release of 6.0 isn't "optimized" enough and therefore struggles with the older hardware?
Only been a few days since it has been released. No one has said anything about battery charging slowly.

Then again, it may just be my phone because it hasn't used fast charge since I moved off of 4.4.4 stock when I got it. Maybe the battery is fucked and I need a new one.

I don't know how MM needs optimization to enable charging. Sounds like a crock of shit to me.

You can check in battery in settings and see how long he used the phone and compare to screen on time.

Even if it sucks, buying a new battery is still pretty cheap investment compared to buying a new phone.

>Isnt buying used so fucking risky?
It always is. Don't forget to verify that IMEI/SN of a phone, though I don't know if it would be any kind of useful info. Check the last period of time battery usage - if the graph in Settings shows quite drastic drop-down then maybe it's a sign to pass? I'm not sure though.

Does your power adapter even supports Quick Charging?
>>
>>54359857
It came with the phone so yeah. Using my GF's S6 charger now and it doesn't work either.
>>
I'm looking to get project fi, and will probably get the Nexus 5x. My question is I've heard that Google is releasing a new phone quite soon (in the next 4-5 months), so does it make sense to wait for these new phones, or is the 5x good enough?
>>
>>54359869
Well, it ain't gonna be another Nexus for sure, because HTC is making one right now.
>>
>>54359869
I thought about the same thing but think about it this way:
If you need the phone, nexus 5x will always be at a decent price. Next phone made by HTC or whoever will definitely be an upgrade but don't expect it to be at the price of a 5x. 5x guarantees 2-3 years of support and it's specs aren't their worst out there so don't expect to be hanging when other updates roll out.

help me decide on a budget smartphone /spg/, please. Right now it's between the redmi 3 pro (+-160 euro) or the wileyfox swift (140 euro). All I want it for is to read some weeb comics, watch videos and maybe play some puzzle games or nes emulators. Might get a cheap cardboard vr, but that's not really important.

I could bump up my budget some more to 200-250 euro, but that's kinda pushing it and I don't really know what options are good at that price range.

You may be right. With Sprint I was using 500MB/month. That was mostly because I get no signal at my workplace and thus no data. When I do get any signal it's briefly before I connect to a new wifi at my next destination.

It's quite easy to understand that your you're so autistic that your life revolves around perpetuation conversations with anonymous strangers by intentionally misunderstanding the post being quoted to prolong the discussion, because your psychological profile is that of a basement dweller, hence the dire need to keep this autistic conversation going by misrepresenting the other party, for as long as humanly possible, lest you have to go back to your pathetic miserable existence of nobody and nothing.

>>54365894
don't buy it. personally thought it would be a good budget replacement to my iPhone 5S, the interface is laggy as shit especially when it's switching radios (losing wifi connection and switching to LTE). I ended up selling the M8 I had just bought and got myself a Nexus 5X, which is so much better than the M8.
>>
>>54365894
It's good, I have Marshmellow working on it fine.

Feels a bit smaller and thinner than I thought. I think now I prefer bigger and thicker phones, but I'm not in synch with the trends.

I never had the problems with the wifi this guy (>>54365996) describes. Could be he bought a used one or something. It's a bit late to get a M8 anyway. Only get it if it's supercheap and new, unsold stock with at least 1 year warranty.

Official news about Note 6 where?
I have a note 4. Best phone I ever had. Waiting till note 6 is released to upgrade because my 4 is slowing down now
>>
About to sell my iPhone 6 and go for a S7.

I remember not hating touchwiz all that much even back when I had the S4, when I had a Note 3 it didn't bother me at all.

One thing i'll miss is the IR blaster, I had so much fun with the thing, and it let me control pretty much every IR appliance from the house.
>>
>>54366123
Well the other guy sold it for a reason..

I bought mine new, unsold from a German ebay store. Big stores always have some unsold stock. Came with a 2 year warranty too, because I'm in the EU. Phone's pretty cool, no issue with it, except, of course, the camera is not much to talk about. But I got it for a few hundred bucks, it's premium flaship build, still looks great in 2016, it's a classic phone. I'm not sorry for getting it.

Not much, just no sources for custom development and almost no updates for cheap chink phones using those sockets. Besides that great Sockets for the money
>>
>>54366712
I know right? Maybe the setup process isn't as straight forward as it'd need to be for it to become more mainstream.
>>
>>54366772
Yea you're probably right. I personally thought it was a design issue (for the s6/s7 specifically) and maybe they felt it wasn't a popular enough feature to compromise their design direction.
>>
>>54366763
>no updates
Not an issue, my Nexus 5 is still on Android 5.1 because 6 ran like shit, never was a big fan of updates.

>no sources for custom development
Might be an issue but it's not really necessary if the device gives good enough battery life and performance.

If those aren't issues for me, then I have nothing else to he worried about with that particular SoC?

Also will it be a sidegrade or a downgrade from my SD800?

This. This so much. With a built-in battery that size, you're going to be sacrificing usability and/or function SOMEWHERE. While I do agree modern high-end phones can use a battery bump, it should not be at the expense of high end specs. Even then, battery can be easily remedied with a big battery pack.

Bought the nexus 5x recently. okay phone, paid $350. it gives a warning message at boot if you use a non-default rom which i find really obtrusive, but otherwise it generally performs well, with some lag at times. I thought about the 6p or the lg v10 which both have more features i like but i wanted something more modestly sized.
>>
I'm ok with phones having reasonable batteries and having a battery pack that carries a charge or two in my bag or car.

That way my pocket doesn't look like it has a brick in it, yet I can manage 2 days out or more without my phone dying on me.
>>

Moto E 2
Its said to be a step down from the Moto G, and the specs show it, however, the only thing that this phone cant do well that I'd like it to do is PSP emulation.
Battery is great, easily lasts all day with heavy usage from music, games and video. The thing rarely stutters, or lags, or crashes, and whenever it does its usually because I'm texting, listening to music, playing a game and checking gmaps at the same time.

For $50-150 less than a Moto G 2, this thing is a great budget phone. Supports micro SD, USB-C, and has two cameras. Only thing against it is no removable battery and only 8GB of internal storage.

7.5/10 would rec

I'd love to order the k6000 pro since I saw it shilled on /g/ a few times, its camera is interpolated too, but whatever. I only care about battery life, then call quality second.

Only thing holding me back if, I checked their facebook page and people seem to be having issues with the devices and getting no support.

If it can last me a year, I'd happily buy it. I don't care about updates, but if the hardware gets fucked after a few months I will be forced to buy a new phone.
