I bought a really cheap USB drawing tablet a few years ago. One like the pic I uploaded where it's just a black canvas that directs my cursor on screen.

The pen for it required a battery and I threw out the pen because battery acid leaked out of it all inside and I didn't want to take any chances. Is there anything that I could use as an alternative to the pen that came with it? It doesn't work by touch,

Backspace on browsers usually goes backwards in history. My backspace does not for chromium, and only for chromium.
I'm honestly confused, it worked just fine on the previous chromium buidl.

Ok I seriously need help. I took this forensics class last year and I have to finish up this last assignment. But I've put it off and since so much time has passed I don't remember much of anything from that class. The assignment is :

>Based on the Firestarter Project, make a report indicating the findings and conclusions (if any) of the investigation. Provided is an attachment showing the results of an investigation, with many of the criteria matching accepted standards. Bear in mind that the report needs to stand up to scrutiny, and the analysts/investigator's role is to establish a chain of evidence, demonstrate findings (artifacts), and draw a reasonable conclusion based on facts; all this while also (hopefully) preventing someone from poking holes in the case (forensic methodology followed).

I've been given a 2 GB .dd file, and I have to make a report based on a fake arsonist's drive being found. How do I search through the .dd file? I've been using FTK imager for 4 hours now but my PC is about to reach space capacity and I'm not even half way done. What program do I use? Everything else I can do myself, I have the template for the report, I just need to see what I have to report on.

I hate to ask for tech support, but I'm really lost on how to proceed.

Tried to install Windows over an older Ubuntu install, but after trying to partition from the installer it says that it couldn't create a new partition so after reading I have to go in and reformat the partition to FAT32.

Now here's my problem, I can't get any Linux OS to work. The livecds for Ubuntu and OpenSUSE get to the point that they load, but when it should bring me to a desktop the feed to the screen cuts out. I've tried both HDMI and VGA and even a few other lightweight operating systems and nothing is working. Can anyone provide advice? Booting from USB if that makes any difference.

Why do passive mixers need resistors at all? Why can't you just wire outputs directly together?

I understand the resistors when they are different value and you are selectively attenuating different signals but for just a standard mixer?

Do audio devices not have output buffers to prevent signal A going into the output of signal B?

So I just got a real job and now I have real money with a real computer and I don't need to be a fucking pirate where half the shit doesn't work right anymore, so I got Steam. I'm pretty tired of typing in my password since I made a real one.

I'm looking to build something of a home server, but nothing too intense.
I could use one of my old toasters laying around for most of what I want (Samba file shares, Subsonic, torrent box, SyncThing) but I also wouldn't mind being able to run a small but heavily modded Minecraft server and be able to use Plex (to watch things on my tablet, maybe also away from home, either way transcoding).

The question is, would I be alright with something a bit older or should I be looking at newer offerings? I'm open to just about any suggestions.

From what I know, Minecraft servers don't require as much processing power as they do RAM, and any iGPU should be capable of at least one 1080p stream at a time through Plex. I'd say take a toaster, put 16GB RAM on it, and then start finding 4TB NAS hard drives.

I already looked at what it would cost to put one together with an A8-7300 or so with WD Reds. The problem is, when I say toaster, I mean things that are all about seven years old now, and choke as it is. Even my Minecraft rig chokes and it's got 6 GB of RAM for three players.
I guess I should also ask about what RAID setup (I was thinking RAID 5) and filesystem.

Windows 10, shitty SSD, 0xc00000e error
Pretty much every day I turn on my PC I get the 0xc00000e error code (can't boot, you're fucked, use recovery or some shit), but every time I can boot normally if I turn off the PC by holding the power button for few seconds after seeing the error. It hasn't been too bad or anything, but having to hard restart the PC every time I see this shit is pretty frustrating. Basically, what I think is, that somehow the SSD doesn't connect normally, but all the cables are connected right and everything. I've been seeing this error ever since I've made that SSD into boot drive, tried reinstalling windows and such, nothing really does anything. Any ideas or is it just a shitty SSD ?
>>
>>54336138

>>
>>54336481
There's is no more powerful languages. All the languages have a purpose (almost), and you should learn something that suits your needs.

if you just want to learn programming for the sake of learning programming, the language doesn't really matter in the end, since everybody have its own point of view on the question, and you won't find an universal answer.

If you don't know what you want to create no one can help you on picking the right language to learn.

Let's say I'm a retard who hasn't thought about wifi since like 2007 and my USB adapter is crapping out. If I'm in a room in a house with the router unnegotiably on the other side of the house and no port other than power and coax in the wall, how do I get the most stable connection?

It's Wireless-N on a FIOS 30/30 subscription with the only upgrade option available in the foreseeable future being 100/100 so it doesn't need to get faster than that, and the ethernet/phone jacks that do exist in the house are wired with CAT5 I believe.

Do people still use external USB adapters or am I still in the stone age? A motherboard upgrade is probably due regardless, so I don't mind going with an onboard solution.
Is there a smart modem/router/adapter configuration that I can throw money at and have work? I wouldn't mind building a router as a project if that ends up being a good idea, but it's also only for two or three local connections.
Can you set up a stable wired internet connection over coax? What are its limitations?
>>
>>54338185
>Do people still use external USB adapters
Yes.

>how do I get the most stable connection?
I own this and surprisingly it works well. It's called Power Over Ethernet. They can be as cheap as $20. You should try it.

>>
>>54338211
Well that's pretty neat. Do I necessarily know that this will work with my house? It's fairly new, but it was also wired kind of retarded. They had Cat5 cabling running through phone jacks until we switched them out.
>>
>>54338241
As the name implies, it carries data over the electrical circuits in your house, so you're not really gonna have to deal with much outside of connecting an ethernet cable from the router to the POE adapter, and on the receiving end either connect another Ethernet cable directly to your device or if the POE receiver has Wireless connect via WiFi.

I use this in an apartment complex and works absolutely well.
>>
>>54338120
you can't remove it. Deal with it or install an OS that doesn't spy on you.
Even windows 7 and 8 received updates to have telemetry "features"
OS X isn't an option when I say "doesn't spy on you"

Does using a usb cable extender cause stuff to charge slower? For example if I plug a device into pic related, will it charge slower than if I plugged it directly into the back of my computer?

Just because Im being curious:

What does /g/ think about installing custom firmwares on portable and stationary consoles?

Companies often try to block this option, since CFWs allow to run pirated games, but at the other hand, they gives more control over the hardware, allows to run homebrew programs and such and offer more customization for users.

Is there a recommendable heuristic to solve longest path problems on an unweighted bidirectional graph?

Given such a graph I want to find a path that visits as many vertices as possible from a given start vertex [where the path ends is unimportant].

Now the brute force approach is exponential and thus not appicable for me.

I was thinking a heuristic would be nice because the application is time sensitive while not being dependant on a 100% correct result. If the path the heuristic finds visits only 80% of vertices that would be fine too. But the number of vertices can range up to around 200-400.

/g/, I fucked up.

I brought my desktop across country with me, and during transport the graphics card heatsink took a big hit. Part of the heatsink got bent to shit and ended up basically touching the connection from the graphics card to the power supply. I didn't notice this right away, but I did notice that my computer would only start on its side(which is how I had it to put the graphics card back in, because I'd taken it out for transport and put it in its own bag), and when I tried to put it back upright there was an unholy crackle of electricity and it shut off. Being the big retard that I am, I put it back on its side, turned it back on, and then tried to put it upright again like 20 fucking times, being greeted with the obvious "stop fucking doing this for god's sake" sound of electricity every time. I initially thought it was something with the power supply, and somehow continued thinking this even after watching the guts of the computer as I tilted it upright and seeing fucking sparks fly out of my graphics card.

Eventually I managed to notice the actual problem. I just bent the metal bit of the heatsink back so that it wasn't touching the power connections anymore. Now I've reassembled everything and it seems to be working fine(it's actually running like 10 degrees cooler than before what the fuck).

So my question is is this shit going to keep working or what? How does this thing even still fucking work? Shouldn't this have fried it? I'm literally talking to you via a computer that should not actually be working. Is this shit going to burst into flames when I'm not looking or what?

Okay so I've been trying to port forward my raspberry pi to be able to ssh into it from another network.

My router is a Netger D6300, so opened NAT Filtering in [Advanced > Setup > WAN Setup], but now when I try to add SSH as a custom service (pic related, what I see), I don't have the little box to check "use the same port range for internal port", and there's no field for me to type the internal IP address of my raspberry pi.

So, what do you guys think I should do ?

Hey /g/, how do I remove the PSU?

I already unplugged everything from the motherboard, and all the shit that was plugged into the HDD and DVD/CD drive, but what is this black and yellow cable that is plugged into the 12V power port, and why is it running under the mobo? how the fuck do I get it out to replace the psu?

For those wondering, I'm 18 so this is a learning experience for me, and I bought this half finished with a Gtx 750ti, 8 ddr3 ram, and a x5460 quad core. I think the stock PSU (255w and is a peak psu) is giving it lag spikes and I want to replace it, plus I wanted to put a new HDD in anyways.

Factory specs claim the fans that come with it are 99 CFM. I'm calling bullshit. When I put my hand up to it and I'm getting noticeably lower airflow than my Corsair Air 120mm fan, which is speced @ 62.74 CFM. The fans that come with the much more expensive RGB version of this AIO are speced @ Max. Air Flow:22.14 ~ 40.6 CFM because they're high pressure (Max. Pressure:0.57 ~ 2.01 mm-H2O". I suspect they have put airflow fans instead of static pressure fans on the non-RGB version of this water cooling system.

Can anyone recommend a good set of 120mm fans for this AIO radiator?
