technically.
its a good move from valves side.
windows 10 universal apps are pretty bad currently and microsoft wants to monopolize in the future.
gabe isnt having any of their shit so hes pushing steamos.
techically every third game coming out on steam is now multiplatofrm. games with proper opengl support run faster on loonix in many cases too.
vulkan benchmarks see similar results.
many AAA games come with native linux support.
just go to the storepage and filter for steamos/linux.

http://store.steampowered.com/search/?term=&sort_by=_ASC&os=linux&page=1

not only are all of valves only games supported by linux all of their VR stuff through the vive is. and many high profile games are on linux too now.
even the fucking cryengine has native linux support now.

all that has to happen now is on linux.
the linux ecosystem needs to get their head out of their ass and fix long standing issues and bugs.
the games and the way to get them is already there.
now the operating system needs to be better for general usage.

>steam on linux

Looks like Microsoft and closed source wins yet again.
All these years despite being free it GNU/Linux desktop couldn't break 1.5% market share and the last ditch attempt to fix this and get users for to such a "superior" "freedom respecting" OS is by filling it with closed source, proprietary games with vendor lock-in and DRM.

At least Windows users know the deal and don't pretend to be holier-than-thou.

Also 20 years of Linux users acting all smart saying games are for children... and now they are bending over begging to be ass-fucked by evil non-free devils.

>its a good move from valves side.
WAS. as soon as 8.1 released Gabe was back making deals with MS, no wonder he didn't put out his own machines he's been backpedalling from the linux kneejerk descisoon ever since.

>gabe isnt having any of their shit so hes pushing steamos.
he isn't pushing shit, couldn't even market steam machines properly because it's a huge failure.

>techically every third game coming out on steam is now multiplatofrm. games with proper opengl support run faster on loonix in many cases too.
most run on privately developers modded wine which translates/emulates to opengl.
many games have settings removed or forced turned down and in "benchmarks" videos you can even see the foliage on linux looks like shit and dynamic shadows completely missing.

>vulkan benchmarks see similar results.
vulkan barely brings linux up to windows DX9

>many AAA games come with native linux support.
"many" is false, native is also false since it's gimped wine translation many times.

/g/ doesn't exist for that long, stop projecting your vision of linux users to all of them

Decent list, but ETS2, World of Goo, and Gmod are all indie games, also Bioshock Infinite's trash.
