Let's discuss the potential of Web 3.0. I can't seem to wrap my head around it. I feel like an old person who doesn't understand new tech. Maybe it's because it hasn't been fully realized yet. I also feel like Web 3.0 could take the fun out of surfing the web as your results would be predetermined.

That right-hand column may as well read "Gross violations of system security and user privacy."

That's what I'm afraid of. Seems very corporate oriented.

define "smart"

I can imagine the differences between 2.0 and 3.0 being parallel to 2007's youtube front page and the current one.

I think you're vastly overrating this stuff. I've used it in projects before and it's nothing much more than xml with annotations.

I just posted a pic to help form an idea with those unfamiliar with the concept.
The picture does not reflect my views

it's all a bunch of bullshit buzzwords. you don't need to understand it because it's all intentionally vague and it's used to sell products and services. smart phones, the cloud, web, mashup, IoT. there are no clear and definitive pieces of software for these applications anymore, they're becoming very abstract techniques that are promised to be done reliably by companies.
>>
We're already at web3.0.

it's smart anon! smarter than ever before!

A smart app that does the thinking for dumb people who can't use traditional web apps.

Yep, can confirm. Just another form of XML, that's all.

Hell, most existing parsers are shitty plus it's difficult to write that shit as a human (it's excellent for a machine parser, as XML is as well).

It must involve preference algorithms, location based services and push notifications.
>>
web 3.0 sounds really lame. The step to 2.0 was big because we got dynamic content. I don't see any big leaps from 2 to 3 though.

Half the shit in Web 3.0 column are fucking buzzwords.

In addition the Web bubble is about to burst, if it hasn't already. Massively overvalued sites are plummeting in stock and can't post a profit to save their lives.
>>
>>54329365
They're mostly buzzwords because they are a prediction about something that doesn't exist yet. It's all speculation mate.
>>
>>54329572
Ok, let's try and figure out how some of this faggotry would even work

>Lifestreams
As if twitter's constant status update bilge wasn't enough, now your entire pointless meaningless life will be driveled out onto the internet 24/7 via your Google(tm) Glasses. Livestream your life! Watch as you argue with the guy making your overpriced soy latte!

Ok, I guess I'm only going to do that one because this is going to take too long.

So in web 3.0 will my porn learn what makes me cum the fastest or hardest?

Nothing to do with XML
it's a way of structure data to refer to real world things.
for example if you said president of USA 09-16 or Obama or Barack or Barack Obama they all look like different things to a computer. But using things like OWL(which can be written in other forms than XML like turtle)
you can refer to an entity that is that person and then if the computer came across some article talking about the person married to Michelle Obama it could, by graph pattern matching, know who it's referring to.

tl;dr
Uses entities instead of strings. Don't need fancy language interpreter parsers
Nothing to do with XML
