This is where you ask... Stupid questions?
Anyways. I am having trouble with my desktop computer. The cpu fan and chassis fan have recently began to spin extremely fast, with no clear reasoning as to why. I think it is a problem with the mother board, as it starts spinning fast every boot despite changing the settings to not spin so fast. Trying to adjust with speed fan, or Asus suite 3 does no good. What can I do to fix this? The motherboard model is an h 81 M-K

A friend of mine droped water in my wireless router. After drying it, it works, but the wifi signal is extremely weak.
Can somebody explain this?
Can i fix it or should i buy another router?

Anyone know a way to get rid of onedrive - personal? The uni one is the only one I use. I do not have a personal onedrive account, so I do not know what that is even connected to, if anything. For my personal files I use dropbox.

It's a package manager that makes installing and managing installations of command line tools much easier, pretty much as easy as apt-get or yum. You can even get GUI apps from there (I installed Chromium through homebrew). Also it installs everything in /usr/local so there aren't any conflicts with system default packages.

hey guys. I just found an old macbook 5,1 from early 2009. Now it's running 10.58 version of OS X. Now I know nothing about macs. I just want to update everything to the latest version. How can I remotely wipe my old iPhone?

Basically they removed the ability to write to certain directories in El Cap for "security reasons". IDK if this is the problem but it's most likely it, and if not I'd do it anyways to prevent future problems with other programs. Just follow the top voted solution. Post back if it worked.

I'm making a custom bluetooth speaker from a 4inch coaxial car speaker, a TDA7492P 50W+50W Amplifier and a 12V Lithium-Ion battery. /csg/ approved

My problem is that I'm getting too much distortion long before I reach the maximum volume level permitted, even at the lowest gain setting.

Is there a way to reduce this distortion? I can't use a ground loop isolator since the bluetooth chip is the only interface and it's soldered to the board.

How is a VPN supposed to make anyone anonymous?

I mean, say your IP is 1.1.1.1 and your VPN's IP is 2.2.2.2.

Now, you connect to Google, so the traffic looks like this [You(1.1.1.1)]-->2.2.2.2-->Google

Now, of course Google only sees a connection from 2.2.2.2, BUT I can't imagine how the ISP can't easily put the pieces of the puzzle back together.

I.e. "around ~12:30 PM on 1/1/16 the suspect visited website.com. Sadly, we only know that the IP is 2.2.2.2 which is a Ukrainian datacenter. But on the other hand, the IP 1.1.1.1 was connecting to 2.2.2.2 exactly 10 milliseconds before the other connection."

Seems pretty easy to trace people back tbqh or am I missing something?

>>

>>
>>54321437
All traffic goes through the VPN before it goes to the internet. While the ISP could see you connecting to the VPN, they have no way of telling what you did afterwards, which means just because 2.2.2.2 connected to google 10 ms after you connected to 2.2.2.2, they can't be 100% sure it was you. It wouldn't hold up in a court of law.

That is, unless the VPN gives the ISP, law enforcment etc, the information, Use a VPN that claims to store no data about its users.

>>54321464
It's 4 Ohm rated at 100W RMS so it's not the speaker that's distorting. It's the amp or the bluetooth module, I assume I'll have to do some electronic fuckery to reduce the amount of electrical noise relative to the audio signal, no idea how to do that though.
>>
>>54321437
The ISP doesn't know that 2.2.2.2 went to google.com. All they see is 1.1.1.1 connecting to 2.2.2.2. Now if Google was working with the ISP (or there was an organization that made submitting logs mandatory by both the ISP and google) they would be able to conclude that "user x connected through so-and-so ISP with IP address 1.1.1.1 to 2.2.2.2 and a few ms later google.com got an incoming connection from 2.2.2.2, therefore 1.1.1.1 must be the user who connected to google.com at time HH:mm and searched for ``rainbow dash porn'' ".

I would guess if it's a private (only used by you) IP, your connection could indeed be traced back under the assumption that both the website you visited and your ISP complies to give out information.

So let's assume this is the case:
You visited trannyporn.com using the VPN 2.2.2.2. Tranny porn complies with whatever agency and gives the IP 2.2.2.2.
Mind you, there are multiple ISPs and you can't even know which COUNTRY the one who connected to 2.2.2.2 came from. So you either
>a) have to get some kind of foreign law cooperation bullshit to get the information who connected to 2.2.2.2 from the local ISP in this country
>or b) just ASSUME the suspect came from your country and ask ALL ISPs to supply records from that time to find the one which connected to 2.2.2.2

Then, they MIGHT be able to trace back the connection, assuming all the records still exist AND you are literally the only one who ever connected to the server. Because the actual traffic is encrypted, they don't know what you requested.

What if you just visited google through the VPN at that time and someone else (who connected to the VPN 2 days ago) didn't place a timed command on the server to "wait 2 days, then visit trannyporn.com".

Now you realize that this is A LOT of effort and definitely not the way to go to break VPN traffic.

It's probably much easier to
>decrypt traffic through backdoors/faulty crypto implementation
>get the logs from the VPN provider itself granted it collects log files (so this is essentially a trust part - some providers say the don't log, but how can you be sure they don't REALLY do? Or that they actually don't want to log, but they're retards and forgot to turn off a relevant setting?)

Not necessarily programming, but some scripting abilities can enable you to simplify things you do every day, like downloading new files from your school website automatically and periodically.

Small things really. With programming abilities you might fix outdated programs that you might have use for and otherwise be able to make your own customized additions to programs you use, to suit you.

You'll also be able to perhaps make some simple plugins for programs you use, like bittorrent clients or what have you.

It also gives you a deeper understanding over how things work.

Let's say that I want to swap a hard drive with everything installed from one chinkpad (with an i5) to another (with an i7).

What would be the best distro for making this as quick, and "it just werks" as possible? Gentoo is compiled from source, and is usually compiled for a specific target CPU. Does that mean that I can't easily swap hard drives between computers and have it just werk if I use gentoo? Would something like Debian or Arch work better for something like this?

Would it be possible to dual boot from a mbr ssd and a gpt hdd? Because that's what I have and I'm guessing that you can't do that?
>>
>>54323422
i would avoid arch and gentoo for such a thing since you'd have to install drivers for extra hardware. however it would work on whatever distro you want, it'd be less of a pain on a debian or fedora.
>>
>>54323422
The problem won't be the CPU but all the other hardware, most of which requires special drivers.

It will probably still work, but you might not get WiFi or sound or things like that.

I would just re-install.
And if you must switch between two machines, use two separate OS partitions and a single /home partition for shared files.

A CPU is very unlikely to fail if you overclock the right way as in don't push it to some retarded amount and set it on fire, You don't want it at the absolute fastest it can get but a bit below that for better stability. on how fast it will go depends on the CPU you have, every single one is a bit different in quality and some may get faster oc speeds then others even if they are both the same product, your cooler is going to fail first so just get one with a 5 year warranty and replace it before then.

Dual-graphics wasn't started until the 6000 series so your 4850 would not work.

According to https://www.amd.com/en-us/innovations/software-technologies/dual-graphics
you would be best pairing your APU with an R7 250.

As someone who fell for dual graphics in the past (A8-3870K + 6670) its pretty much useless. Trying to updae drivers was annoying and there was little to no performance increase.

Ended up just getting a better dedicated GPU
