So I'm watching this show. Silicon Valley.
Anyway these two guys have been working with the company founder Richard on how to make their site better. Eventually Richard is fired but the other two claim they can make the software work without him but then they try and read his code and they have no idea what the fuck any of it means?
How is that possible? They've all been working on the same thing for months and must have seen their code hundreds of times, how can it be they only now figured out they have no fucking clue what he did?
It's a television show.
And why did the porn company give them write access to their servers when they accidentally deleted everything? It's a tv show. It's funny. Enjoy it for what it is.

did the writer of that file try to obfuscate hes program?
Its not just fiction despite what some people here are saying. A real scenario I can think of is the site is broken into separate modules that are developed independently. And thus the developers never needed to modify parts of the system outside their scope. As to why they can't understand it - because instead of using English words as the name for variables they use random jibberish. and instead of simple arithmetics theyll use long tricky algorithms that achieve the same result. makes it a real pain to unwind.

If that's the case doesn't it make writing it much much harder than it has to be?
What is HammingCheese doing? Hamming weight? Hamming distance? I really don't know.

its hamming cheese

They do it intentionally so that the codebase is unmaintainaable by anyone else, job security.
... This is a fictional show. Why the fuck are you asking questions here? Go to >>>/tv/ you fucking retard.

Literally defeats the point of writing TODO
