I tried installing FreeBSD a while ago. I've tried it in 2 computers actually. Both acer netbooks because that's all I can afford.
Installation was easy, the thing is automated. But in both computers and with different access points as well, the DHCP client would never get any response over wireless (I tried wired, it worked, but I rarely if ever have access to wired internet).
Tried the FreeBSD forums without luck and it seems nobody else had this issue because google didn't turn any similar question.
What do you guys think is the reason for this? The client tried ipv4 then ipv6 but both said "lease acquisition timed out". Every linux distro gets the lease just fine. What am I doing wrong? (and how could I, since the network connection comes automated with the install?).
Thanks for your time.
Oh and before you suggest trying others, neither NetBSD nor OpenBSD would even boot from my usb stick

How do I get KDE 5 Plasma on PCBSD?

BSDtards, what's the current state of power management for OpenBSD on laptops? I remember it being pretty bad a few years ago, and I've been considering giving it another shot on my meminkpad meme420 if the battery life has gotten good enough.

Still not as good as MacOS, but equal to Linux.

apmd -A is what you're looking for in OpenBSD.

Looking at Apple's kernel I'd say one would need to compromise between having great power management and having a complete clusterfuck of a codebase

My pragmatism is better than your idealism.

What difference in all BSD?
>>

With the FOSS BSDs you should basically consider each of them to about as different from one another as they are from GNU/Linux. They're different operating systems and are developed independently. Aside from the userspace applications which also largely work on GNU/Linux or any other *nix about the only thing they have in common is their heritage, each of the FOSS BSDs projects consider their OS to be a successor of the original BSD line.

Thanks!
