I want an honest, educated answer to this question:
Is it possible that one day in the future all (or a large majority) of Steam games will be compatible with Linux operating systems, like Ubuntu? Because if this was so, I would stop using Windows entirely. Ubuntu is super fun, and im going to install it on my college laptop very soon. But I really wish I could use it as my main OS on my desktop. The only thing that is holding me back from doing it is vidya.
It entirely depends on the developers.
If it takes time / effort to make it work on linux as well, people are not doing it.
But if it is easier to use an engine that works on all platforms, then there is no reason to not release it for linux.
They know that it will make them more money and more media coverage if they do it (at least in the beginning)

I wish someone would get on that

it is already a thing. I don't know if it is usable or not, I don't do game development

Youre asking for us to tell you what will happen in the future. I dont think anyone who can tell what happens in the future would be browsing /g/

One day in the future everything will collapse into one configurable operating system, a standard, the same thing happened with mathematical systems and english, it'll happen with operating systems. So to answer your question, yes you will be able to keep playing your vidya, but it wont be on linux.
