Have not read that one, but I really liked this one.
This one should be better than K&R for beginners. I heard the K&R expects that the reader have at least the basics down.
If the first 2-3 chapters are to easy, just skip them.
Pointers on C is god tier.

I don't care if muh secund edition ansi C hurr durr, because C is outdated technology while the stuff taught in SICP is enduring.
Not to bash you on using C, K&R is the best book on C anyway so read that.
Most other books on C try to make your life easier, but C will always make your life hard, trust me. So better get used to that.
Okay another option I've heard of (which I haven't read btw) is Modern C (I think that's the name)
