Xfeces doesn't even have a chance.

Unless you run a poorfag hardware.

ALL of gtk DE are stuck in the 90's with shit themes and softwares
>>
>>54289967
Doesnt same software work on gtk and qt as well?
Is there any other Qt DE besides KrashDE?
>>
>>54289870
Neon is just bleeding edge rolling releases of stable KDE rather than having to sit and wait for the next release of Kubuntu to get a new version.
>>
>>54289995
gtk and Qt software is not the same

Take Dolphin and Thunar for example.

Hint: One is useless piece of shit
>>
>>54290022
Ah I see. So since KDE is itself buggy,is it better to go with Neon because you have more chances to be more updated so the bugs will be fixed faster for you?
>>
>>54290038
I always considered Dolphin the best fm, but unfortunately I considered it also the only good thing from KDE...
>>

KDE isn't buggy. Your GPU is shit and has no drivers

I run KDE on Arch. Recently updated to latest version, now I have 2 plasma processes consuming 100% CPU on 2 separate cores at all times. Back to i3wm I go.

every single fucking time I try to run anything with KDE, whether it's designed to use it or whether I force it in, it shits all over itself within the first day of use.

I love the look and design of it, and pretty much every single app it uses seems better than the alternatives. But holy shit if it isn't, bar none, the absolute least stable thing I've ever had the displeasure of using.
>>
>>54290364
I can't because I have no idea about either. That's why I'm asking, and you're not helping
>>
>>54290308
>KDE
>eye candy compositing effects
>feature-rich window manager
>fantastic default applications
>good graphical system settings manager
>large amount of widgets and addons
>updates often, might cause instability
>relatively resource-hungry
>large updates are usually filled with regressions

>Xfce
>relatively slim storage-wise
>little eye candy, light on resources
>very stable, doesn't change for long periods of time
>have to get more hands-on for some system changes
>still on GTK2

It's essentially a case of features versus performance. The best way to find the DE for you is to try them yourself.

Can that menu be changed to something more practical like whisker menu for example? I dont like that my top used programs are icons on the left and that most of space is taken by categories I never visit..
>>
>>54290475
>>54290733
This is nice. Thanks. But what about distro? Is it enough to go with Kubuntu or Neon? I kind a dont want to go from familiar environment and especially non-apt managers :/
>inb4 apt is shit
:(
>>
>>54290771
You don't set up shortcuts for your most used programmes?

Yeah application menu can have three different modes: I think you are looking for KDE dash menu which can replace applications menu
>>
>>54290715
I don't see why not. I have never used Kali, but it depends on whether it's in their repos.

>>54290790
Kubuntu is pretty bad. It's out of sync with KDE releases and ends up having outdated and buggier software for a while. I don't think Neon is quite ready yet, and I think it would be better to go for a more well rounded distribution anyway, something like openSUSE, Fedora KDE, or Arch (or Antergos/Manjaro for less work).
>>
>>54290790
Enough for what? If you're not all that familiar with Linux and want to go with something that's easy to use and otherwise simple, just go with Kubuntu. No need to make it harder than it has to be.
>>
>>54290739
Well? I thought gtk cucks would meme me for some reason. Like 1366x768 res? No one?

works and I can be confident /hopefully/ future changes will be more technical than visual and I will always have the hastle free desktop that does the job and remains consistent

No complains there. Sending active windows to a Virtual desokop and Krunner is set up accordingly in my machine.
I can literally press Cntrl+left key to switch to my virtual desktop 2 where Libre office is loaded. If I need to run a different software there is always krunner

Workflow is great

thats a little bit too optimistic.
I use xfce since forever and they fix big things once per 3 years approx...
The best part is xfce is so much customizable but on the other hand all themes are almost complete broken shit on xfce so it doesnt even mean anything to have ricing capabilities...
>>
>>54291038
The reason you're using KDE: is it only because of qt/gtk, or also because you actually prefer kde over gnome (if you have tried gnome that is)?

How about times when you have to use gtk? Does it look different from your qt theme or is it still fine?
>>
>>54289870

nothing. I don't know if that was your point, but if it was, that was a brilliant question. Nothing is comfier in KDE than in Gnome.
What I do like about it is that cpu usage and memory usage are both lower than Gnome. Also Breeze theme looks great. But I'm very much content with everything Gnome and GTK, so I'll stick with this for now.

Ever since plasma 5 was forced upon us, I have missed having a calendar widget.
Now I launch a full screen application just to check my agenda.

Maybe I was in the minority of people who liked having widgets on the desktop.

Does gnome have something like krunner?

You obviously don't know what you are talking about.

Calander widget was gone in the earlier version of Plasma 5.x

tried KDE, XFCE, Openbox, Unity and Gnome.
Gnome is by far the comfiest of all. Opnebox is good too if you time to waste.
