Just to prove CS grads are fucking autistic, here is a simple question. Solve it and explain your answer. Pro tip: CS grads cant

my 14 yo niece had this type of homework questions. are you 14? post feet.
>>

Highschool physics?
>>
Take the derivative and find the solutions of a(t). Figure out which solution is a min or max.
OP is this your HW? Are you having a hard time with this?
>>
You don't even fucking need the Cal for this, its all algebra. OP, are you autismo?
>>
-h = 5t^2 - 40t
-h/5 = t^2 - 8t
-h/5 + 16 = t^2 -8t +16
-h/5 = (t-4)^2 -16
-h = 5(t-4)^2 - 80
h = -5(t-4)^2 + 80
vertex = (4,80)
a. 4
b. 80
Solved it like I would have in 7th grade.
Those were better days.

For A just derive and find 0 to find the max, for B, plug that back into the given equation

1. CS grads are the normies
2. That's a high school physics question
>>
>>54283607
oh wait I misread, it was when did it stop rising, not when did it hit the floor.
>>
Just take the derivative and set it equal to 0 to find a. Take the value from a and replace t with the value.

The object stops rising when 5t^2 > 40t
The maximum height is 5t*2 - 40t

a. get the derivative, find where it's 0
b. s(T) where T is the answer from a
>>
>>54284653
Object stops rising when 5t^2 = 40t but is no long rising when 5t^2 > 40t.
The maximum height is 5t^2 - 40t.
>>
>>54284757
The maximum height is 5t^2 - 40t @ the point, t, where 5t^2 = 40t

I think that should answer the question appropriately and not give him the answers...

gg

It's rising negatively.
>>
>>54284800
ugghh it's not the point t.

I think it would be better stated as:

"The maximum height is 5t^2 - 40t for t where 5t^2 = 40t."

The derivative process would just phase out the higher roots coefficient and remove any trace of its dependency along with it, leaving only values found in the foundation. That's values, people, not properties.
>>
a) 0 = 40t - 5t^2
5t^2 = 40t
5t = 40
t = 8
> Max height halfway through flight
Therefore, stops rising at 4s

b) s(4) = 40(4) - 5(4)^2
s(4) = 160 - 5(16)
s(4) = 80
>>
>simple
fuck that, someone should find the most complicated way to solve that as possible.
>>
>>54284883
Anyway, I think this is wrong too but who knows.

You just gotta consider where the bulk of the growth occurs and how the figures wind about that bulk. 5t^2 becomes a pivot point for the 40t. Once the 40t can negate the 5t^2, our values start to repeat themselves.
>>
ds/dt = 40 - 10t
solve = 0 for all possible maximums and minimums, there is only 1 at t = 4 seconds

when t = 4, s(t) = 160 - 80 = 80 metres
>>

I don't think there's a single CS student at my school who wouldn't get this right.

I'm probably wrong of course, but that's still my attitude on how easy this problem is.
>>
>>54283429
Your parents really failed you if you can't answer that question on your own.

It's easy fucking money.
>>
I'm 12 how do I do this?

>>
>>54283429
s(t)=t(40-5t)
roots at 0 and 8
by symmetry the peak and max is at t=4
s(t=4)=4*20=80m
