The place, yes. The show, kind of.

I found it entertaining and mildly humorous. They really capture the essence of different caricatures/characters in the tech world.

I am in a startup, and I hate silicon valley. The first episode made me cringe into infinity.

Every time I meet someone who's an entreprenuer, or just a leader in general, they have incredible social skills.

And that stupid 'beta' personality is just not how real entreprenuers work. You find that everyone walks with confidence. The stereotype is that most people are just sleezy salesmen trying to find other people to build their shitty idea for them.

You can't be in a startup unless you have confidence, because absolutely noone will take you seriously.... until you are successful

You're an arrogant kid until you make it, then you're some kind of genius.

I really like it. Some parts are rather ridiculous, but generally it's a well-made, fun show. They've done their research and called in experts which makes it a bit more bearable for those who aren't complete tech illiterates. It is a shame that Welch died after filming the first season, Peter Gregory being one of the more amusing characters.

>Authors William Strauss and Neil Howe wrote about the Millennials in Generations: The History of America's Future, 1584 to 2069 (1991),[2] and they released an entire book devoted to them, titled Millennials Rising: The Next Great Generation (2000).[3] Strauss and Howe are "widely credited with naming the Millennials" according to journalist Bruce Horovitz.[1] In 1987, they coined the term "around the time '82-born children were entering preschool and the media were first identifying their prospective link to the millennial year 2000".[4]

>In August 1993, the phrase Generation Y first appeared in an Ad Age editorial to describe those who were aged 11 or younger as well as the teenagers of the upcoming ten years who were defined as different from Generation X.[13] Since then, the company has sometimes used 1982 as the starting birth year.[14] According to Horovitz, in 2012, Ad Age "threw in the towel by conceding that Millennials is a better name than Gen Y",[1] and by 2014, a past director of data strategy at Ad Age said to NPR "the Generation Y label was a placeholder until we found out more about them".[15]

"startups are a soap opera, but not that kind of soap opera"

And yeah, my life has been absolutely insane. We've been at it for a little over a year now, and its like. Jesus.

But its not like that... lol. not at all.
>>
>>54280958
the premise was Richard wasn't an entrepreneur, he was a nerd who stumbled upon gold.

That is the joke of the show and where the antics come from, he doesn't really know what he is doing and fucks up constantly.

>If the S1 finale where they figure out the optimum way to stroke off everybody in a conference room doesn't make you laugh, you probably won't like the rest of the show.
That was one of the weakest, most juvenile jokes in the show. Like underage /b/, the episode.
I enjoyed the rest of the show regardless

Why does everyone think that the mood of this show has to be a carbon copy of the actual Silicon Valley? Its an HBO comedy, it doesn't present itself as a documentary.
