I have an issue on Ubuntu with mouse acceleration that I can fix with "xset m 0" but I want this to be system wide not just set by user. What conf file do I need to edit? I would assume xorg.conf but things have changed and putting a file in x.conf.d doesn't take affect in the same way as xset does.

I seperated my external USB3 HDD into two seperate partitions
Mounted Ubuntu_amd64.iso and copied and pasted files from there to HDD partition
Can I now boot and Install from that HDD?
I know this probably isn't anything new to you guys, but bear with me.
I just created a new user-account, added it to the users and wheel group, configured the standard shell to zsh, installed a different DE (XFCE4), logged out and logged back in as that new users with a XFCE4 session and had a working system.
There's no configuration mess since it's a different users, the installed packages are all 100% removable without leaving any cruft (since nothing is run as root and can modify the system), and I can easily swith back to my old account with my configured KDE environment without any issues.
(Arch) Linux is pretty comfy. It has been a while since I used it for as long as I have now again and I'm really happy I made the switch. That's all.

mainbox is running unstable, rpi3 is running jessie. It turns out that unstable breaks the living fuck out of the pi, so I can't run it.
the problem is, a program I use a lot (mypaint) recently got a huge update/upgrade. This update is not yet available for jessie, and I really want it on my pi.

Look up apt pinning, here is mine (testing/sid)$ cat /etc/apt/preferences

And then you can either doapt-cache plociy packagenameto look at the available versions and then install packagename=version or you can justapt -t unstable packagename

I couldn't run dota 2. Steam said the game was running even though nothing happened. I was forced to reboot the computer because I couldn't kill dota 2.
