So a newer (and dual) not yet released gpu outperforms an older one (March 17, 2015).
Newer cards should always be better, i expect newer high end nvidia cards to outperform titan x too.
At least on GPU's we can expect amd newer cards to outperform the older nvidia ones, while on cpus i just hope they catch with the performance of 2014 intel ones.

A 1080 is probably going to cost about the same as a 980 right now, so between $500-550. A 1070 will cost around $350 as well.
