Plugged a shitty panasonic bigscreen on the class via HDMI port last week. Shit worked like a charm.

The poorfag consumershit-in-disguise models have HDMI. But these are just rebranded ideapads with a trackpoint. These models also generally use poorfag hardware like AMD graphics and sometimes even CPUs. Because of this, they also have god awful Linux support.
I don't think IBM ever made any of these, but we already know that OP is a phony, so there ya go.

If OP has a Thinkpad with HDMI, he made a huge mistake in buying it, and then an even bigger mistake in installing Linux on it. GIF related to Thinkpads with HDMI ports.

I agree, if only the hardware were that capable, however it isn't which is why OS's are responsible for it, in DE's this is typically done automatically but with a bare arch installation or just a wm then its down to you, but even then its not really hard or inconvenient as shown by the numerous replies,

Cool story. It kinda matches my past experience but it never was this bad. The truth is, with Windows from like XP, it's super easy and standard. In Linux you have to pepare yourself by reading and testing. Graphics in Linux sucks because there isn't anything good and de facto standard. Maybe Wayland will save us.

Why the fuck can't you reboot from grub? Seems really fucking stupid to have to power cycle manually. My laptop doesn't have a power button so if it can't find my partition for some stupid reason (usually because I have a USB drive with a fucked up boot sector or whatever plugged in) I need to unplug the power cord, remove the keyboard, take out the battery, unplug the cmos battery, plug the power back in, but everything else back together, THEN I can finally boot shit up. Since Google Sheets has been polished, this is literally no longer a problem if the professor has a computer and an internet connection.

There is no reason not to use it, besides being obstinate/special snowflake.

>Privacy
Its a public presentation. Use a public computer with a clean Google account if you are worried so much. Again, you can use it for free, with an account dedicated to it, for an inherently public project.

>LaTeX
No one cares unless its your thesis

Linux, lol

You bought into the whole "linux desktop" meme

You should know better.

Linux is for some server applications and for autistic individuals with no life who are willing to spend hours and hours configuring their system.

before win10 you had to hunt drivers while distro that aren't special snowflake a lot of stuff would just work.

Yep. Often at least generic drivers are available on Windows Update, but what use is that when you have no network connection?

Pic related happened to me when I fresh installed Win7 recently.
>>
>>54282195

That actually was in Win 8 too, but too many tards were turbonerding over the horrid Start Screen to notice.
>>
>>54275867
Happened something similar to me as well.
Fuck Linux.
>>
>>54266307

Have you tried to energize the projector?

>while distro that aren't special snowflake a lot of stuff would just work.

when I started using linux back in ~2010 it was a nightmare to get wireless drivers working, especially with the "muh FOSS" shit
things have improved a lot

Depends on your wifi card. None of my laptops ever had issues and this was pre-2010. Meanwhile I had to navigate through a taiwanese website to get my network card on my desktop working under Windows XP
