Have you ever built your own PC? If yes, what are the specs of the PC you built?
Is dragon dildo expensive?

>Implying the consumerist whores of /g/ is smart enough to build their own PC
I build mine for like $600 around black Friday. 4.2 GHz, 4 cores AMD. R7 370 (4gb vram). 8 GB RAM. All in all a pretty good deal I think.
>>54265280
used 600w PSU
used HD 7770
used X3 450 (unlocked its 4th core)
8 GB of 1600mhz RAM @ 1333mhz I randomly bought at Microcenter one day
used 8 GB of 1333mhz RAM my friend gave me for free randomly after that
old salvaged 300GB 7200rpm HDD
used Case that I salvaged from a friend prebuilt
and this mobo
https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/M5A78LMUSB3/
I've built nearly half my friends. Current specs after a $600 upgrade include:
i7 4790k
MSI r9 390x
16gb DDR3 1333 (scavenged the ram lol)
Samsung 850 Pro 256gb
1tb Toshiba shit drive
160gb random Hatachi drive I use for recording
>>54265280
it's got a really good processor like an i3 or something
it has four sticks of ram
a nvidia card
3tb hard drive
and this really cool red case
I used to solder my own cpu's but I've quickly outgrown that.

>building a computer requires intelligence
This is why people from /v/ won't leave this place.
>>54265506
How did he get away with fooling america so easily?
Are we really that stupid?
>>54265280
Mine costed $1500 in Aussie dollars.
>i5 4460 cpu
>700w psu
>gtx 970
>2x1600mhz ddr3 dual channel ram at 16gb
Not too shabby.
>>54265610
Mine cost the about the same so we basically have the same thing
>>54265302
"building" a PC is so fucking simple that using the word is a complete misnomer. You plug the parts in and turn it on. It's simpler than a lego set
>>54265280
AMD Athlon 64 2800+ CPU
512 MB RAM
HDD of some sort
Nvidia FX5200
No name mobo
No name case with included power supply
lol it werked though and it was <$300 way back then
>>54265545
Mostly
media jumped all over the story without thinking for even a couple seconds, then couldn't admit how fucking stupid they were by following up on it
holy fuck this thread is cancer

>he fell for the 16Gib RAM meme
>>54265936
I was content with 8 but I had two more slots and no other use for it, atm I just toss textures and levels into a ramdisk when i'm about to play something
>>54265280
built some e8600+9600gso monstrosity when I was 14
nowadays I can't stand the shitty obnoxious looks of gaymer hardware nor do I really need the power or care about what little money I might save building one instead of running a nice older flagship workstation
I didn't pay attention to the cost.
i7 5930K
Asus Rampage V
16GB DDR4 3000mhz
2x EVGA GTX 980 Ti Hybrid
Samsung Evo 840 250gb SSD
2x WD Black 5TB
2x Toshiba 3TB
EVGA 1300W 80+ Gold PSU
Asus 1440p 144hz Gsync monitor
I worked in a local computer repair shop and built many computers. It's boring brain-dead easy work. I've gotten so tired of building computers that I buy Apple products. Software is more interesting than hardware now.
>>54265545
It was a calculated move

>>54265506
Nice clock ackmed
>>54266580
What the shit, why? Wtf you going to do with 32gb RAM without visualizing several servers? Also why that much storage on a desktop?
>>54265729
Yes just like building a Lego set, you build a pc.
Fucking moron.
>>54266580
Hello 980 Ti friendo, but why do you only have a 1080p/60hz display?
>>54266671
Not him but that's nothing anon, I have a 24TB NAS and oh... like 16TB for my desktop? Rendering raw AVI @ 2160p devours drive space.
>>54266702
How is he wrong? You don't have to set jumpers on vcore, fsb speed / multipliers...etc. You don't have to have any engineering knowledge like Ohms law, nyquest...etc. It quite literally is "insert part A into slot B", and all parts are keyed to go in only one way. The hardest part is getting the case wired into the motherboard.
>>54266671
I do a lot of audio/video editing, rendering, and encoding. 6K 360 video is pretty resource intensive. I do reporting on the side, and having 60+ tabs open at once isn't too uncommon.
Audio and video eat drive space like none other. This isn't enough. I'm planning on making a 20+ TB NAS. Probably FreeBSD with an M-Disk drive. Bi-weekly archives will be shipped to a fireproof safe off-site.

It's IPS for color grading, had it for a few years now. I'm planning on upgrading with my summer bonus at the new job. I'm thinking a 4k IPS for editing, and a 144hz TN panel for gayman.

Lian Li PoS case
First build was in 2004 or 2005, parts bought from a computer fair:
AMD 3800
6600 GT
1GB RAM
Some cheap case + PSU
Some Gigabyte mobo
Motherboard ended up dying, so I went and bought a new one. Retarded me picked one with the wrong socket type, and bent the pins when I tried to put it in. Ended up buying a 4200. Sold it to my friend a few years later and the PSU blew up within a few months.
2nd build in 2008 or 09:
Q6600
7800 GTX (died and replaced with cheap GTS 250)
GA-P35-DS3L
4GB RAM
Antec 900 + Corsair TX 520
Still going strong, gave it to my mother.
3rd build in 2012:
i5 2500k
8GB RAM
Z68 Extreme3 Gen3
560GTX (later upgraded to 770GTX)
CM690 + Corsair TX 650
Main computer today.
thx 4 listening

During my last year of school my friends dad did some work on an office and somehow managed to come home witha bunch of defunct computers...about a dozen 286s, most of which didnt work and me and my bud where given them, we managed to get 3 working systems out of the parts, that was my first PC, i named it frankstein. Ive built every PC ive ever owned, Current system is i5 6600k, 8gb ddr4 and a 390x, was an upgrade from an AMD64x2 5600, 4gb with a nvidia 8800gts.
