Everyone has files that they want to hide. Whether thats pirated movies, private images, or what have you.
I removed the left motor and I soldered my 128gb secure thumb drive to the usb port inside my ps3 controller with a teensy that only powers the stick when Im holding L3. Nobody will every think to connect the controller (to power the teensy) then plug it into the pc and hold L3 (It has to remain held or else the drive disconnects which is secure but really annoying).
Im thinking of where I could fit a full 5.25' drive or maybe a 2.5' because I need more space and a less annoying way to access it. How do you hide it, /g/?
Maybe in the base of a lamp and add a raspberry pi to network share it. Idk.

Put your drive in a bag and put the bag inside the toilet's water tank
>>
> Everyone has files that they want to hide

Eh, not really.
>>
Used to keep some private images on micro SD cards until every SINGLE FUCKING ONE would get corrupted in the span of a couple months. 8gb, 16gb, 32gb and 200gb useless specs of plastic .

Now they're just on my hard drive since I don't really care
>>
>>54264737
Is that a thing people actually do? I've only ever seen it in the Newsroom and, like, spy movies.

>>54264749
Must be nice to be so secure. You Canadian?
>>
>>54264682
I hide everything in a folder that nobody will suspect, with fake names.

What the hell are you talking about.

Embrace the fact the NSA looks at your nudes and then learn not to care.

I'm reminded of that image of Thad's official court documentation. "We found the criminal images hidden in C://Users/Thad/Desktop/dontlook/imseriousdontlookinhere/cp" or something like that.

cosmic radiation will fuck large amounts of data stored on flash memory, unless you keep it powered so it can correct the errors. microSD cards are for smuggling data in your foreskin, not for long term storage

Canadians are getting fucked as it is. Privacy has just been demolished and they're coming for the pirates next

Silly gooses, I keep everything in C:\Junk.
Nobody goes to look in C:\, everyone always looks in the desktop.
>>
>>54264682
I keep tax documents and such on an external HDD and a flash drive in a water/fire-proof safe that is bolted to the floor.

I don't. My desktop is covered in futa.
I have to make sure I'm not attaching futa whenever I send something off for university or an email.

Dipshit.

this is a read-only solution. highly compressed short video on a dvd labelled big bang theory or whateverthefuck, write a luks encrypted filesystem to a file called VTS_03_10.VOB alongside the other shit. use some dll from roller coaster tycoon 2 install cd as the keyfile. keep them both tucked away separately like you never use them. only copy the keyfile in ramfs.

It's rare that I let someone else use my laptop, and there's not much I wouldn't want them to see, but for those few instances, I just compress the whole folder, give it a gibberish name, and remove the filename extension.

I dont know why you would cringe over that. Its fast, secure, and accessible from anywhere.
If someone steals your computer they wouldnt have access to your files!

That's a good way to get it deleted.
Why not just give it the "hidden" attribute?
>>
I don't have anything so sensitive that others seeing it would be a legitimate issue.

The small amount of stuff I'd prefer people not seeing (AKA porn) is just in a hidden folder on one of my external hard drives. If someone has already gone that far to find something, fuck it - I'll just let them see. Not like it's anything shocking.
>>
>>54265983

because it's obvious to hide something that way. that's like A+ 101 babby's first practice application.

why isn't anyone discussing steganography?

hide your shit in plain site and people will be none the wiser

That would be concatenating a .zip onto a .gif. Speaking of which,
>why isn't anyone discussing steganography?
Because it's strictly more effort to access, and that's more effort then necessary for the goal of "prevent accidental discovery".
