smartmon cron just emailed me the stats and it turns out my Spinpoint just had his 6th year of power on hours HAPY BIRTHDAY.
How many years are you guys HDDs?
How should I know?
I got a used pc, how do I tell how many birthday parties my hard drive has missed?
How do I know if they are emotional mature enough for my dramatic anime collection?

HDD* Not SSD
had one 6 months ago that crossed 6 power on hours (and was 10 years old)
figured it was time to retire the old girl from service
My 2 1TB spinpoints will be 6 years old in October, still going strong.

years not hours
Been wanting an excuse to post this for getting this SMART info!

Forgot to hit enter on that last step. That's 7.075 years!

It's just the number of the hard drive. The model is in the pic, but brand is Seagate.

>his
Don't personify hardware, they hate that.
Besides, hard drives are clearly female.

In case you're not trolling: Crystal Disk Info on Windows, gnome-disks on Linux.
Old WD 500gb 5400RPM drive
Over 10 yo
Running daily w/out problems
Nice
Old 8GB IDE drive
>1998
Runs fine too

My oldest active is 856 days on. So 2 and a half years.

Or, just get CrystalDiskInfo or one of the other actual HDD utilities that tell you the count in plain view, instead of going though all that.
I have a Samsung 300 GB HDD that is 10 year olds but for power-on years that's not even 3.5 years.
>>54268891
oh, shit - you only got 96% health left
that power-on time clearly must be wrong, /g/ has assured me that no SSD makes it past a year

Fugg, I have a disk from 2008 with like 3 bad sectors. It's mostly on so at least 5 full years of on time.

The vertex I have is notorious for failing quickly, I must have been lucky. I abused it for quite a while and has been in 3 different machines but now it mostly idles in my streaming box.
I also own a samshit 830 120gb and 850 500gb which are fine too.
Mine is only 5 years.
