It's only a meme if you don't know what the purpose of a dedicated player is (or if you're expecting too much out of it).
Are there better sounding audio players out there? Sure, but debatable.
This player is right at the sweet spot of diminishing returns. Just enough quality where you're not paying hundreds more for some negligible amount of better quality.
It handles any audio format you throw at it, the fact that it has two micro sd slots is neat, and the IPS panel the screen uses is nice and bright (easily visible in direct sunlight).
This is a better meme. Simply because it uses a multibit DAC(higher power consumption tho. Don't expect stellar battery life). 1-bit DACs can compete ONLY with direct DSD playback.

Like with everything "high" fidelity, you will hear the biggest difference in high frequency range. Even then, you'll need at least some BAs. But then again, BAs generally don't need a dedicated amp because of their efficiency, the need a low output impedance amp.
