If I didn't know how amazingly well put together that thing is and how nice it actually feels I'd never have the appreciation for it. I frankly think it looks meh and I'd personally never buy it. Oyster Perpetual is much more to my liking and even that thing looks just "alright" to my eye.

I'm thinking of getting a new strap for my Seiko SCVE, preferably something a bit more summery. I have it on a mocca strap from Rios right now, which is nice but a bit stiff.

Would an orange Nato complement the blue well or would it just make me look like a raging faggot?

the 3-6-9 markers are an acquired taste, the OPs look much nicer to newbies first starting to get into watches, it's also another reason why nomos/bauhaus watches are so popular amongst noobs

trust me, I'm an expert
>>
>>54238459
It looks decent enough for the price and shouldn't have the loud ticking of the regular weekender.
>>
>>54238459
I have an Expedition chrono which I pretty much only wear for outdoors activities. So far it's taken quite a beating in the two years I've had it, but no problems so far. I imagine this one will be similar but will suffer from the normal Weekender's TICK-TICK-TICK

>>54238615
I think you can add the Alpinist (SARB and SARG), Cocktail Time and the SARX to that list. Actually pretty much every contemporary Seiko has an interesting quirk, with the exception of the SARB033 and SARB035. But hey, there are people out there who happily pay big money for Lord Marvels and Lord Matics.

Yup.

We had a guy posting his 060 on a 6inch wrist and it looked way too big. Despite the 060 lug to lug being slightly bigger then the 710 it's still smaller.

Consider getting the 420 case, and if you're willing to wait i recall posting some comparison pictures that might help a little but i need to find them first.

>Who made it
>What's the model name
>What's the water resistance in metres or bar
>What's the jewel count
>Is it automatic
>What's the beat rate, if higher than 21,600

Anything else should be in the owner's manual.

>>
>>54240206
Well I figure 5.5 and 6 isn't a significant factor in the real world since most scratch agents are sand/silica in dust (~7),other metals and surfaces (~3-6).
So the main difference would be weight. Is titanium light enough to merit an extra 50 bucks?
>>
>>54240156
>>54240284
These look kinda nice compared to all the other fuck-ugly Citizen divers. Are these somewhere in the SKX price range?
>>
>>54240204
Blue dial ones don't pop out frequently and used Promasters are being sold quite expensive these days since there's a rumour that they are being discontinued.
The seller assures it works perfectly and judging by the pics it looks like it has been treated well, just the case back is a bit scratched.
If I don't like it I will sell it for the price I paid or a bit more, that's the good thing of buying used, you don't lose money.
>>
>>54240343
New they cost about 190~200$, my black one was 50$ as par of a bigger deal.

They wear a little smaller then the SKX, 20mm lugs and handwinding.
>>
>>54240284
Hey Shlomo, yeah I wish I could have gotten a bargain like yours.
I've been lurking like mad on the WUS sales corner and eBay since I got hyped by yours but didn't find any good ones for such a low price. Hope this one comes with the English/Japanese day-wheel, the seller doesn't have a clue and says it's just in English.
>>
I just picked up an Electronika 5 and the battery is gone. Anyone know which battery this thing takes?
>>
>>54240037
There are different alloys of stainless and different alloys of titanium.

316L stainless as used in watches is 95 on the Rockwell scale where grade 5 titanium used in watches is a 36. Titanium watches scratch a lot, you could ask anyone who has owned one and they would confirm it. Some titanium watches have very hard surface coatings, those are probably much better.

PS Mohs hardness scale is qualitative bullshit and it's meant for minerals anyway, not metals.
>>
>>54240592
Open it up and take a look.
>>
>>54240633
>>54240297
Also since you asked, titanium is a bit more than half as dense as stainless. Obviously the titanium watch won't weight half as much because the rest of the components won't be any lighter, but it's probably noticeably lighter if you put them side by side.

Pardon me I'm retarded, I didn't notice those numbers were on the B scale for steel and C scale for titanium. But also the numbers for steel were given for annealed steel which is softer, you wouldn't anneal a watch case because it's supposed to be hard.

So I don't have numbers but stainless steel watches are still harder than titanium ones, I know that.

It wears small because it has tiny lugs. The diameter may be 47mm, but the actual lug-to-lug length is not really that big.

It's similar to why the SKX007 is 42mm plus a big cushion case yet it looks fine on all the skellywrists in /wt/ while most other 42mm watches with normal length lugs would look bad on them.

Played some light basketball with it today, didn't miss a beat. It did just stop and it had only been just less than a day since winded so I guess I didn't wind it enough for the estimated 45 hour power reserve and it messed up my s/d. But after 15 hours there was only a 1 second difference so that's not too bad.

What the fuck is the point of decorating a quartz movement? The only part you can work on is the outer plate. Who the fuck cares?
Decorating mechanical movements is a type of justifying the retarded prices that the swiss charge, but there's really no reason to do so with a Quartz.

They look nice, they have sort of a warm look and aren't super reflective like glass/sapphire so they look more transparent. Also acrylic domes look great, domes can't be made as thick and tall with sapphire.
>>
>>54244700
I have very few quartz, as I tend to prefer mechanicals, but when I have changed thier batteries, I appreciate a better looking quartz. So, there is that. The element of tradition and beauty.

However, although it is true that most finishing techniques in mechanicals have an origin traceable to the idea of helping the material/components withstand the test of time, quartz parts can also benefit from this.

Finishing demands the use of better quality materials, metal in particular, wich will prevent from board melting/desintegrating like several cheap quartz suffer.

>>54245009
Hesalite and acrylic crystals have a warmer sensation that sapphire, wich I enjoy a lot. Plus, they can be formed -cheaply- in more interesting forms other than flats.

Nontheless, if possible, I prefer sapphire for the simple reason that it will need less maintenance and supports heavier use.

Somehow I never noticed that other Dynamics don't have the magnifier. Now that you mention it I checked photos online and it seems you're right that my crystal isn't original.

I guess it's fine, it actually fits the watch and the magnifier matches up with the day-date display fine so it's at least not a bad hackjob. It also seems like mine has a taller dome than the stock crystal which makes sense since the magnifying lens is actually on the inside surface of the crystal.

No its not hard to see at all. And getting a watch at 53$ with sensors they use in ProTrek watches + 20bar WR + mineral glass + inverted screen made it a great deal.
