Who not ready to upgrade still?
I7 870 @4.2ghz still going strong, have yet to experience cpu bottlenecking framerates below 60fps in any game I play.
Have a friend with an i5 2400 too, he's satisfied with current performance too.
i7 3770 here. Really happy with it, no reason to upgrade. Even has good virtualization support, so when I do upgrade it'll go straight into a VM host.
>>54234756
i7 930 here. Run it at 3.6 GHz. I really *want* to upgrade, but there's no way I can justify buying a new system.
>>54234927
Op here, I was like that last year, but after a while I just realised to be content with what I have instead of wasting my money.
It's still a really good processor considering its age. I should hope it's faster than an i5 4460 since it's at 4.2ghz
>>54234842
I think as long as its a quad core it should handle most modern tasks.
Even something aged like a q6600 should still be fine after an overclock.
Who AMD?
Fx 6300 and 8350 users must be pretty smug on vulkan/dx12
>>54234756
I7 6700k here
I am still not convince to upgrade to haswell
I5 2500K going STRONK at 4.3 GHz here.
Maybe I'll update in 2018-2020.
>>54234756
i7 860, 3770k and 3930k here, no real need to change anything except gpus and storage
i only use the 3930k these days so i might sell off or give away the other two just to clear some space here
kinda want to do a zen build in future, if it doesn't suck dicks
>>54234756
Who is this semen demon?
>>54235448
Filename
>>54235152
What voltage? Consider yourself lucky if your mobo lasts that long, unless it's a gigabyte.
>>54235184
Is there a significant performance difference between the 3 in games?
>>54235560
Filename? What kind of name is that!? Americans have truly lost their minds.
>>54235448
Buck Angel
>>54234842
3770K here. Current ones have 10 % more performance in benchmarks...
Mine runs on 4.4, will maybe go up to 4.6.
>>54235152
Thats my plan, maybe AMD but at least 8 cores, below 500 €.
>>54235661
I would upgrade to zen if they offer 6 cores at around i5 prices.
Or at least a quad core around i3 prices, Just for native sata 3 and usb 3
>>54235989
That would not be enough difference to my 3770K. I want at least the same IPC per core, but more cores could come handy. I'm willing to pay up to 500 € for 8 cores, so 7820K or AMD Zen topmodel.
>>54235989
>sata 3 and usb 3
This, will upgrade if Zen has 6+ cores and a useful chipset at reasonable costs. Current 2500k will go into my second machine.
>>54236005
>bigzen
AM4 can't happen soon enough.
>>54236027
You think they'll go back to the 2,3,4, 6 core series they had with the phenom ii chips?
>>54236027
Why not buy a Z77 board? I got this fine Maximus V board for 80 €. Was thinking of building a media machine with my current i7 when I go for something bigger.
Can't Z68 already handle native SATA3?
>>54236291
Not him but if I was going to spend any money on a new board, unless my current one died, I might as well just upgrade to a new cpu too.
If you're going to spend the money, better to just go all out imo.
I'm going to upgrade when my gigabyte board finally dies, since my i7 870 Is so old, but I'm beginning to think it'll never happen.
>>54234927
My nigger i had my 920 at 3.5ghz for years
Gr8 old Cpu mobo blew out
Got the 8350 because it was on sale
AM3 is a dead slot
>>54234756
>Selena Gomez thread
Fuck yeah!
660ti
1090t
8gb ram
Another year at least unless some part fails.
2500K
8GB ram
gtx970
im perfectly fine where im at.
>>54234756
i3 here :s
>>54237295
Which i3?
>>54234756
I went from an old core 2 duo to an i7 4770K that I got from Intel Retail Edge few years ago.
Will probably upgrade when I'll have too much money and all the memes tech already.
>>54237421
He uses an i3, he doesn't know what you mean
2500k, don't think I've ever been CPU bottlenecked before
Use Haswell i3 4130. Works for me just fine.
4690k @ 4.7
Should be good for a while
>>54237567
Since when owning i3 makes you a tech illiterate? I use i3 3240 because I don't gaym like some of you manchild do. It works good enough for coding, internets, movies and even handles virtualization decently. Enegry efficient as fuck too
>>54234756
>>54234961
>>54235102
>>54235560
>>54237421
she has lupus you know
i5 2500k and R9 270X (which I put in a year ago)- no real compelling reason to upgrade.
what tasks are you doing that need a stronger processor?
>>54234756
What games are you playing? I need some options. Seems like PC gaming is shitty these days
>>54235184
i5 3470
I am not gonna upgrade for another 3 years.
>>54235184
Sell it to me ;)
upgraded from my c2d e8400 to g3258 meme
not that noticable
Athlon X4 750K ~3.8GHz
If you threw $300 at me My last thought would be a new CPU. Hell I wouldn't even use that money to upgrade my 16'' CRT. I'd just get a beefier GPU.
i5 2400 with a 970. it bottlenecks pretty hard in CPU intensive games but it's still holding up pretty strong in newer games.
Intel Q8400
Radeon R7 260X
I'm fine. I don't play super demanding games and I'm perfectly willing to turn down the settings or even the resolution if necessary. Fallout 4 is the worst but it's still playable.
>>54234756
I'm still using 3570K overclocked 4GHz (I could probably go higher). I wanted to upgrade when Skylake came but since the only CPU heavy tasks I do is gayming, I didn't see any good reasons to upgrade.
Now I'm waiting for Kaby Lake, Broadwell-E and Zen.
>>54237621
Bruh, I game on an i3 2120.
You don't need a bloody i7 for vidia, your i3 should handle modern games even better than mine.
>>54238447
I'm in the same boat at 4.3GHz. I'd love to have more cores now for VMs, building software, and encoding. There's also that extra boost in emulator performance. I'm waiting until Zen, that is, unless Broadwell-E is a big killer.
>>54238921
If zen is still trailing behind Intel in ipc but offering more cores, at a better price, would you take it?
>>54237659
She's chunky.
Still looks fucking amazing too
>>54239040
It will definitely be behind. If they can put out an 8 core for less than $500, I'd buy it.
>>54239053
New CPU's are a meme, the technology has been at a standstill since Sandy Bridge
>>54239136
It has taken a long time, but Skylake is 20% faster than Sandy Bridge, 20% is nothing to sneeze at. If you're talking about gaymes, then even older shit can run them. You Sandyfags are too smug for your own good.
>>54239312
This.
20% might not sound like much, until you start thinking about how powerful sandy bridge was.
Also new instruction sets let the processor complete some tasks 70% faster than haswell.
B-but I thought /g/ was patrician AMD cpu users?
>>54239312
Pretty sure it's more than 20% faster, but other than that, yeah I agree.
>>54239492
Do laptops count? I have an older turionX2 I'm still using.
Is it possible to get it without the NSA-mandated hardware backdoor?
>>54239053
She has lupus u dumb nigger.
So at times, she swells up when it acts up. The thick neck is a dead give away of a lupus flair up.
i7 920 here.
It's a fucking disgrace of humanity that my 8 year old processor can still handle all games at 60fps.
Seriously this is a big dishonor and a stagnation in technology that will be permanently felt in our timeline of technological progress.
Makes me want to spit on AMD and Intel. And burn their offices for crimes against humanity.
i7 4790
8gb of RAM
GTX 970 running 3 monitors.
Could do with an upgrade to 12 gig of ram and a better graphics card but it runs sweet for now.
