So, what's the /g/eneral verdict on Windows 10? Does it really spy on oyu as much as all the rumors would have you believe? I took the free upgrade and it seems fairly nice.
>>
>>54234287
It IS very nice indeed.

There's no proof about all that "spying" and "botnet" bullshit, just that useless gif that proves absolutely nothing but people get mad if you say that.

In all, the only thing that bugs me is the forced update. I wish I could have more control on that instead of postponing it.
>>
>>54234287
bro, it's common knowledge that the spying stuff is all made up. Literally the only people who whine about this are paranoid linux users on /g/ who never even tryed it. Everyone I know in real life uses it now, including programmers, sysadmins, etc and they all recommend it because it's more secure and safe.
>>
There are people on this board RIGHT NOW who literally cannot download Windows 10 Enterprise, activate it with MS Tool and then disable Telemetry, forced updates and other gay shit in order to have a GREAT OPERATING SYSTEM

>b-b-but anon-kun, what would I complain about then?

JUST

>There's no proof about all that "spying" and "botnet" bullshit, just that useless gif that proves absolutely nothing but people get mad if you say that.

It collects your browsing and work data that's not encrypted. That's exactly what spy and botnet software does.
>>
>>54234287
Windows 10 is free and great for me so far. I haven't had any problems and all I had to do to disable the "spying" (it isn't really spying just common error-reporting stuff) was take 20 seconds to go into the privacy settings. You should stick with it, it's nothing but free and great. Microsoft finally learning from their past mistakes, Windows 10 even supports linux now.
>>
>>54234350
>>54234347
do you have any actual, credible, non-fabricated proof of these outlandish claims? Or is it just butthurt linux users on a grudge against Microsoft being delusional again? Windows 10 is a very good operating system, and saying it has spyware is very ironic considering it's the most secure operating system of 2016.
>>
>>54234350
>It collects your browsing and work data that's not encrypted.
No shit, sherlock.

In order to provide you what you want, he needs to collect what you just typed. You could say the same for EVERY browser!

And don't forget, Windows search bar looks for results online too, he even tells you about it a million times!

>b-but that information goes to PRISM and NSA and Obaamu
Proof?

nice samefagging
>>
>>54234287
Well I don't really care about all the privacy stuff since I only use it for work, but I think it's a lot nicer than 7 and 8.
>>
>>54234369
>Windows 10 is free
why do idiots keep posting this?
>>
>>54234423
ummmmmm... because it IS free?
>>

spotted the newfag that doesn't know how to check for samefags lmao
>>
>>54234287
yes, cortana sends info about your network card to bing.com in request headers.

I am sure they are doing much more than that plus its easy to detect if you imported trusted root CA into your system
>>
>>54234402
>In order to provide you what you want, he needs to collect what you just typed. You could say the same for EVERY browser!

What if I don't want my computer to send what programs I have installed to Microsoft? What if I don't want the operating system uninstaling programs that I installed on it's own accord?
>>
>>54234430
are you fucking blind?

>have 7/8
>free upgrade to 10.

You have yo have Windows first you closeted Linux sperg
>>
>>54234475
Yes, I know what you mean, but you won't find that in a Microsoft Operating System ever. It's even difficult to find that on regular softwares!

I kinda like Windows 10 and I know exactly what he can or cannot do, I accepted that.

I find it quite useful for work stuff (Office, Adobe CC, video editing and exclusive softwares) and gaming when bored.

But couldn't find any real proof about "spying for the government" and all that bullshit. Might as well be worried about my ISP instead, it may even be a greater threat than Windows 10.

its not free either way dumbass and even if it was i still wouldnt use it
>>

Then it's not free.

Why do stupid people always mark things down as free. Things like government services that you actually pay through taxes and included upgrades in a product.
>>
>>54234287
> So, what's the /g/eneral verdict on Windows 10?
It's both AIDS and cancer in one. The spyware and the gay flat UI designed in powerpoint.

> Does it really spy on oyu as much as all the rumors would have you believe?
Yes.

> I took the free upgrade and it seems fairly nice.
You're an idiot.
>>
>>54234287
it's generally not much better than windows 7.
the updating is annoying.
it still has a split personality for configuration
it's not free
i've got both 7 and 10 at work and i prefer 7.

You're a special kind of special.

It could only possibly be in the running to be called "the most secure operating system" if you pretend that the inbuilt spyware is not a security issue to be solved.
Which is of course exactly what Microsoft is doing.

No it does not. It states that microsoft services are monitored you fuckin retard. That's outlook and ondrive, both of which you don't need to use windows 10.
>>
>>54234324
>There's no proof about all that "spying" and "botnet" bullshit

Except that it is written explicitly in license agreement and update descriptions.
>>
>>54236143
Uh oh, looks like someone's both stupid and illiterate. That's a bad combination.
>>
When the free upgrade ends this year what happens with regards to forced Win7 updates? Do they force you to update then say you cannot use your PC until you pay for Win10?
>>
>>54236313
They might try.
>>
>>54236313

Well, read the license and tell us. They may not deny updates for Windows 7 until support end.

>Well, read the license and tell us. They may not deny updates for Windows 7 until support end.

They can't, they have a legal obligation to provide security updates for it till 2020. If they tried something like that many corporate customers (the only customers they listen to and spend the real money) would go apeshit on them.

I think windows 10 is ok.
It's new, it doesn't force the panels in your face, it makes great use of new hardware.

Right click on the start button saves you when you are in trouble.

It's pretty good on phones. Runs great even with shitty phones and no apps are a meme
>>
>>54241119
it's absolute shit on phones. Android 2.0 Gingershit with MD. They killed a decent system with 10 update. And the world felt it, WP in EU5, market where it reached double digits, shrinked, almost disappeared.
They're compromising their vision to get ios and android humburger retards on board. But who needs shitty undeveloped android clone when better alternatives are around?
