I had the same problem with my Galaxy S4. Chrome was even slower than Firefox.
After installing adaway, magically, Chrome is the fastest and the most responsive browser on my device.
Conclusion: It's not the browsers that are slow, it's the fucking webpages full of pointless JS and styles.

Last time I tried lightning browser the website wouldn't even load, so I didn't have a way to get the direct link and stream it in MX Player.
