What's the best smartphone <$250 if all I care about is battery life, gps, and the camera (going to use it for traveling in Europe)?

K6000 pro or redmi 3 pro.

Camera won't be the best, but it's still pretty good in daylight.

Also the oukitel is using a sony sensor, don't remember what the xiaomi is using

Alternatively if only battery life and gps matter, you could get a cheaper oukitel.

Reminder not to buy Xiaomi phones until May.

>Xiaomi have revealed the launch dates for both products, MIUI 8 and Mi Max.

>It turns out that the launch will indeed take place on the 10th of May, so there’s only a couple of weeks to go before we get to see yet another Xiaomi phone this year.
>>
>>54228981
Why is the redmi tied with the lumia when the redmi is clearly better
>>
Just got the s7 edge. I don't know why you guys hate this phone so much, can't find a major flaw with it (other than removable battery, but the battery life more than makes up for that).

K6000 Pro
Plus:
Big battery
Fast charging

Cons:
Slow as processor and gpu

RM3P:
Plus:
Big battery (not as big as K6000)
Fast charging (only 10W (5v 2a) not quickcharge 2.0 or 3.0)
High speed Snapdragon 650 and fast gpu

Cons:
No quickcharge 2.0/3.0

K6000 Premium has the Helio X20, the X10 already beats the 650 in a few places, but loses in most others, though still fast, the X20 should match it and beat it in the rest, though I think the SD650 will still have the faster gpu, but the X20 will still have a fast gpu, just not as fast iirc.

Some phones that have the 13mp sony are shit in the camera department (bad lens and poor software and processing of the raw image, and unresponsive app), not sure about the Oukitel.

In any case I got the RMN3 Pro, camera app is quite fast and responsive, usually chink phones it can be laggy and slow to grab focus despite having tonnes of processing power in the phone.

I think that's the important part. I'm not looking to replace a high end camera with my phone.
>>
>>54229063
Absolutely
>>
>>54229141
I'd wait to see if they're planning to update it to MiUI 8 (Android 6.0).

Apparently thread is gone, so;

Currently have a LG G3. The Wi-Fi is wonky (sometimes works even with reboot, not sure if software or hardware issue) and the speaker is starting to cut out sometimes.

The G5 this year looks like a mess up from what I have read where the G3 was obviously the best one in comparison. The S7 Edge isn't something I would want and the regular S7 either (lol knox).

That leaves me with the HTC 10 where it's looking like a solid phone all around but it is kind of pricey but might be able to make that work.

Is it better to stick with the G3 for another year or go to HTC?

>>
>>54229239
It is, it is a big step backwards from the MT6752. The Mali T720 GP3 is pretty poor too.

The Adreno 405 is a lot better than the T720 iirc.
>>
>>54230121
>>54230211
K6000 Pro looks like a 32gb version of the Ulefone Power essentially I was considering them earlier, but went nah fuck it and went with the way more powerful RMN Pro 3. No regrets.

I'd compare those two on their other features, or wait for the K6000 Premium, but the Premium looks like it'll have one of those 2.5K screens instead of 1080p which means a premium price tag to boot.

It's sad none of these fuckers could spend the extra $10-$30 and pass that cost onto the consumer to make a 6000mah Helio X10/X20 with the newest fast charge. Kinda annoyed the QC2.0 and 3.0 is software disabled in the RMN Pro 3, but what are you gonna do.

I wouldn't want 2 years with that level of processing power desu. Which is why I eventually caved for the SD650 Xiaomi.

The battery + fast charge combo is the big draw card for that phone, good for travelling, especially if you got a fast charge capable battery bank.

Verdict:
Great as fuck battery life, works for everything up to Hearthstone, which is stuttery a bit, but still comfily playable.
Camera is good for stills, but the framerate somehow is utter shit, so videos look like a blur of motion blur.
I think the Pro has a way better camera, and a better processor.
So, get the pro I guess.
>>
>>54233273
How long have you had it for?

How's build quality? Is it solid? And how difficult is it to find accessories?
>>
>>54233304
Since friday.
Build quality is solid as fuck. Feels more solid than the Xperia Z2 I had before. Metal construction, only little plastic pads on the back top and bottom - for the antennas.
It's a bit heavy, but eh, 50g weight for a battery double the size is a good compromise imo.
The microusb port is a bit deep, but most cables should work - I have no problems at all with my Blitzwolf reversible USB cables.
I noticed some very minor clouding on the bottom of the screen when I got it, but it's gone now, probably has to do with the fact that it seems like the glass is not glued to the screen, as it can discolor if you press it ridiculously hard.
All in all, looks like a normal flagship phone.
>>
>>54233304
And as for accessories: Aliexpress.
I ordered a glass screen protector, which hasn't arrived yet. Other than that, there's flip cases, which I don't need.
>>
>>54233273
The Pro has 13MP Sony IMX214, a low-to-mid range camera sensor that they claim is interpolated to 16MP which makes it look like shit. No multi-piece lens and no phase detection in a $200 phone is garbage tier.

>>
>>54233404
Updates really aren't important to me if everything works when I get the device.

Another anon mentioned in earlier threads how a nexus 5x is $650 in aus, so it's literally so much cheaper I can't complain about updates or anything. As long as it works as advertised.
>>
>>54233429
Still, it's preferable to have a newer version to start off on, especially if you plan on keeping it for more than a year.
It's only like 40-50 bucks more, and has:
- A better camera
- A better processor
- 3GB ram instead of 2
- A Full HD screen instead of 720p
- 32GB storage instead of 16gb

I don't own it yet, just planning.

I can get it for around ~320 euros. That's really great price, but I'm afraid that it's too fucking gold being released in 2014, so already 2+ years. Nexus 5X 32GB for example, lowest I can get is 330 euros.

>>54236336
Samshit and HTC are premium, top-tier brands, so Nexus being upper-mid tier phone is nowhere close.

Now, if we compare S7E and 10.
S7E
>Corning Gorilla Glass 4 back panel
>IP68 certified
>SAMOLED screen
>Better screen-to-body ratio than HTC10
>Rounded screen on both sides, which makes it sexy
>More primary camera features
>720@240fps
>More sensors (aka heart rate and shit)
>Better quick-charge
>3600mAh battery

HTC10
>Primary camera laser autofocus
>Dual LED
>Secondary camera OIS and autofocus also recording in 1080p
>DLNA
>Type-C USB
>>
Just sold my g2. Recommend me a phone. I'm considering a redmi note 3 pro. Something better for the price?
>>
>>54236475
Especially the battery in the HTC10 kinda worries me, because of it's pretty small size. However, when I went out and tried the S7E it was really slippery, which isn't a good combination with sweaty palms
>>
>>54236475
Just adding thsome points and thoughts.
The glass on the back is one more piece of glass that can break and isn't as grippy as the aluminium body of the 10.

The 10 has less bloat and will probably get faster updates bc of that. BoomSound technology should result in better audio experience. Warranty covers opening boot loader.

fuck elephone. the one I bought came with malware preinstalled. No root. Also they promised cyanogen, did not deliver, not that I believed them in a first place. Shitty firmware, cpu almost 100 speed every tiem. Hot as hell.

GPS was ok, and it couldd play Hearthstone ok. Camera was the shittiest smartphone camera I've laid my hands on. Even now I have a 65$ smartphone which has better camera.

Also headphone jack was soldered wrong.

avoid elephone, let them rot in hell
>>
>>54236512
Not really, that's as good as it gets around that price point. 75000 on antutu as well.
>>
>>54236475
So S7E has better picture camera features, but HTC rocks when it comes to recording videos?
>>
>>54236659
I'd say S7E is great all-rounder, while HTC10 just highlights it's camera stuff a bit more. Both record in 4K, but Samsung has an option to record 720p in 240fps, although I doubt someone will use this feature, unless you want to get crystal-clear slow-mo effect through video editing software. I'm no expert at phones, but I think that laser autofocus in HTC is much more faster and accurate than basic one. To see a real difference we'll have to wait photo/video comparison, because now it's just theory whilst HTC10 hasn't came out yet.

>>54236517
3000mAh is more than enough. Maybe even better than S7E 3600mAh, because it also depends how phones will work. If Samsung filled with bloat and shit then it may perform worse.

>>54236534
Absolutely agree. Plastic/metal body is more durable than glass, which when shatter will look horribly. BoomSounds is great when you listen audio through speakers, but is it that often to witness these days? I, personally, prefer listening with headphones and speaker is just there to hear person who I'm talking with.

When you buy a samsung phone you will get tons of bloatware slapped on top of it (samsung style). If you flash cyanogenmod on your supported smartphone, you have a vanilla android install (basically a few tweaks here and there by the cm team, but no bloat whatsoever).

The problem with android is that the OEMs can slap any shit on it and make it non removable unless you have root priviliges.
>>

What file manager do you guys use?

I tried Amaze, but the design is so fucking wasteful of space...it's not even funny.

I like "Explorer" - by the Root Explorer guys, but I also need root access.
>>
>>54241600
you will have more internal storage left since the apps that take up space are gone.

You can aquire root not only by using cyanogenmod. Check the xda forums for your device if they achieved root for your device.

Removing factory apps that also take up cpu time will make android less "sluggish". I can't say that android nowadays is "sluggish", those days are long gone imo.
>>
>>54232359

SD808 and X10 are the best CPU's you can get at that price.
>>
>>54241664
>I can't say that android nowadays is "sluggish", those days are long gone imo.
really? haven't had a phone with android after 4.0.3 and it's ass with 0.5gb of ram.

will rooting my phone void the warranty? is there any chances to brick your device while trying to get root access? what are other pros and cons? i dont think just getting rid of factory installled apps will make me notice a big improvement in overall performance. hopefully someone can answer my questions, too bad americans are asleep now
>>
>>54241965
Americans are waking up right now, I'll go to bed soon.

>void the warranty
don't know, samsung has a knox bit that gets altered when you root your phone which voids the warranty, can't say that this is like that for every manufacturer out there

>brick your device
something can go wrong, stick to guides on xda where people already tested it, don't be so stupid and test it first, let that some poo in loo do that for you

>pros and cons
pro: you can flash a framework called xposed which in turn allows you to install xprivacy. With xprivacy you can fully controll which data your apps can access (and I mean everything)

cons: it's a security risk because you open up root priviliges for the user, if you install a malicious app you can fuck up big time in that case.

that's all I can say, hope that helped a bit..
