Arch never had a security controversy because arch is an inherently insecure distribution and due to it's bleeding edge and theoretical "security through obscurity" little to no effort is put towards making it secure. You can make arch secure but you have to do it yourself.

Both APT and pacman were the last package managers of the Linux world to introduce package signing, a crucial security feature.

So yeah you should remove this argument.

You have to be a retard to break something horribly on most distros, really. And there is a ton of distros to choose from other than Ubuntu.

Trolling Arch users is part of the lamest Microsoft's "embrace, extend, and extinguish" campaign ever and it will go horribly wrong for them.
Now that they have Ubuntu inside of Windows they automatically assume Ubuntu users are developers that need Linux functionality and they would gladly come back to Windows.

Now they are trying to make those willing to switch to other distros feel other distros are for NEETs and have no functionality, and I guess Arch is next in line, at least on /g/. Don't forget, two weeks ago GNU/Linux in general was for NEETs and had no functionality. The problem is people are REPULSED by Windows 10 more than they are ATTRACTED by Ubuntu and most Arch users don't even consider ever using any of those.

Microsoft can't get any more desperate than trying to persuade Linux users to use Ubuntu instead of distros like Arch. I mean, Windows isn't even a part of the equation anymore. Will the last stand of winshills be defending the name "Linux" against Stallman's "GNU/Linux"? It's all pretty funny to watch, to be honest.

Been using Arch on and off for my servers for about eight years now. Used Debian prior to that and had some issues here and there. Both could do the job but I found Arch used less resources overall and could recover from errors faster (the server backend used to be pretty unstable). The other thing was the community tended to fix small problems very very quickly compared to other distributions (I don't know if this is still true or not). I stick to Arch now because I've been using it for so long.

Debian took longer to setup at first and was more time consuming to tweak various things, Arch needed a lot more care on the security side.

I don't understand why people care what distribution other people use. Use what you like and what works well for you.

An Archfag's opinion of ubuntu is always going to be warped because he spent time customizing arch the way he wanted, it ships incomplete because they know you as an autist won't be satisfied with any default config and leave that information out for you to fill in. Then he uses some distro that does have a default out of the box config and of course hates it, and can't remember the time he spent setting up his minimal distro. He was probably expecting ubuntu to boot up exactly like his minimal obscure timesink install.

Archfags defend spending a week learning an obscure dead language to set up an obscure dead WM. There are configs for these WMs online you can download as a base and then edit it so you have somewhere to start from but the special snowflake mentality says you should complain about being able to not conform in the most conformist way. The effort has been reset in the sense that they needed something obscure, and the first choice everyone made was this WM, so they have to repeat the process and say "oh no I'm STILL different see I spent a lot of time and didn't use pleb configs".

When you're an autist of this caliber then no distro's default out of the box config is going to do it for you. You have to have a minimal distro that is incomplete so you can pretend your special snowflakeism was the thing that completed it. Archfags claim to be the smarterest distro users but whenever it comes to ubuntu they cannot, simply cannot possibly be assed to remove the package they are so vividly against. They really aren't against and it know it can be removed but just use this as a convenient excuse to say why ubuntu sucks. It doesn't matter if it's disabled now because they'll just make up some bullshit about it still secretly being there and you can't trust it because they spouted it for too long and still expect it to be there just like they expect ubuntu to somehow boot up with their obscure timesink WM and config out of thin air.
