Recommend me a good big-ass heavy used laptop with plenty of power and a 1920x1200 or better screen.
I don't give a shit about battery life or weight.
>I don't give a shit about battery life or weight.
Why not get a desktop then
>>54216316
Can't take my desktop the comic book store or mcdonalds.
>>54216283
buy a desktop you fat fucking loser
>>54216362
Then get a W520
>>54216283
How can white laptops even compete?
>>54216283
Been happy with my Asus G55VW
>>54216385
Is the keyboard good? I'm hoping for a full-sized keyboard.
>>54216402
yes it has the ten-key and non-chiclet bullshit
>>54216283
Oooh! Stacking lesser machines on a W-series thread!
>>54216283
W701ds. No contest.
>>54218312
>not getting a toughbook
>>54218324
Did they ever make a 17" toughbook? Or even a 1920x1200 one?
>>54216385
whats the fan noise like on them? and is the build quality noticeably better than the T series?
W701ds
Don't be a pleb
>>54218641
Mine's pretty quite, the hdd was louder before I swapped it for an ssd
>>54218737

>>54216283
Get a thinkpad p70 or p50 depending on how much screen realstate you want.
>>54216362
>>>54216316
>Can't take my desktop the comic book store or mcdonalds.
Wtf why would you
>>54216366
gl carrying a desktop to places
>>54218909
>fuck huge top and bottom bezels rather than better aspect rato screen
>>54217741
>Eee 701SD
My nigga. How well does it serve you?
>>54217499
>>54216402
nope. w520 has a numpad-less keyboard. get a dell m4600 or 4700, or a m6600
>>54216362
Yes you can
How much better is Sandybridge compared to Arrandale? Considering a T410 rather than the T420 for the 16:10 display. Unless 1600x900 is significantly better than 1440x900.
>>54216362
>I want it to big heavy as fuck and thick as possible
>so I can take it with me
>>54221533
quite a lot of people understand "take it with me" as "keep it in a bag as I move from home-desk to work-desk" and not "be able to use it anywhere".
>>54221547
So its like saying that op has to choose between a pebble and a rock to carry around, so he chooses the rock because its heavier and larger?
>>54216402
My prof has one and it looks pretty beast
>>54216283
asus n56vm it's the one I have. 4 years old and still works flawlessly, look it up
>>54218909
>16:9 is now the screen standard
>every single laptop now has massive horizontal bezels
We got jewed. Hard
>>54221970
Macs are still 16:10
>>54217741
Those bezels Jesus fuck.
First gen Chromebook pixel for $300~$400.
God tier screen, good hardware (but soldered on 16/32gb ssd lmao), and ass battery life.
Throw a real gannoo OS on it and have fun
>>54218312
still the monstrous beast it always was
>>54217741
that asus looks barely legal
>>54221587
More like he can choose between a rock or 4+ rocks just as big. Needs the power of a rock but needs it in a portable package.
I've got a Gigabyte P55K, which comes with an i7 and a GeForce 965M. I upgraded to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD in addition to the puny mSATA 128GB it came with. Screen isn't Mac-tier but other than that it's a solid machine, if a bit expensive.
Plays games pretty well and works well with CPU heavy tasks.
>>54221533
I don't get this whole heavy thing, even the heaviest of laptops now days are under 10lbs. Which isn't that heavy at all.
Dell Precision M6800
Just look at this big beautiful bastard.
Recommend you get an E-Port dock to go with it, I use PR03X for dem USB 3.0 ports.
Dell M6500
i7 QMs, DDR3 memory, Dual HDD with RAID support, DVD drive, USB 3.0, M.2 slots, 17" beautiful 1920x1200 display, Display port out, backlit full size keyboard. Quadro equivalent of a 9900gtx
Great fuckin laptop, played GTA V on it all day at work.
While were on the subject of laptops..
Anyone got a good rec for a Kali setup?
Don't care about thickness/price, just need something with a decent cpu/HDD that is somewhat mobile and decent for pentesting..
Will be using in truck so lots of room...
Why do you need a heavy ass laptop? For gaming? If that's the case, I'd just get a regular laptop that's compatible with an eGPU. Like I think it's fairly easy to set up an eGPU on a retina macbook pro with Intel graphics (if you get one with Nvidia graphics, you won't be able to play on the laptops monitor and will have to output the eGPU to a stand alone screen). Although using a macbook probably isn't the cheapest solution. https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/forums/forum/4-notebooks-e-gpu-discussions/
There was going to be premade Thunderbolt eGPU enclosures, but Intel blocked that since they control what products can be licensed for thunderbolt and want people to buy new computers instead of upgrading their laptops...
>>54218909
This OP, these things are really fast.
They will do great for your video games, anime, and dying alone filled with regret.
>>54217741
WE CAN GO DEEPER
>>54227079
Oh wait, apparently they did authorize eGPU solutions for thunderbolt 3. http://www.anandtech.com/show/10137/razer-core-thunderbolt-3-egfx-chassis-499399-amd-nvidia-shipping-in-april Is there any chance this will work on thunderbolt 2 computers via a driver update or anything?
>>54227266
I just wish there were Thunderbolt to ExpressCard adapters.
>>54216283
This makes me want to watch petite teen likes it big porn
>>54216283
Size difference thread?
>>54224587
