Mate and KDE are the only Desktops on Linux that don't suck balls. Cinnamon is pretty good as well.

KDE = Mate > Cinnamon > Xfce > GNOME = Unity > LXDE = Enlightenment >

Bloated. But the customizability made it worth it for me. Plus, I have a lot of RAM so the bloat's not a problem for me.

The big downside is that there's a lot you have to learn to turn off all the unwanted crap and change all the weird default settings. So I wouldn't recommend it for a beginner.

KDE MASTER RACE REPORTING IN

Why are gtk cucks so salty ITT?
>>
KDE is very shitty, but somewhat good looking and feels good using - very smooth.

Gnome is an absolute abomination.

XFCE is one of the worst optimized DE, people like it for the looks but in benchmarks and various tests with various software it scores among the worst.

LXDE, Openbox - score among the absolute best in performance and are very lightweight.

MATE - I used to shill this, but the more you use it the more shitty it starts to look and feel, you're better with using gnome 3.20 + than this.
+ It's not longer optimized properly, it started to go down the list in tests compared to how well it scored last year.

I would love to love KDE, but its developers are absolute retards.

Now, that KDE4 finally is rock solid and full featured, they completely abondon it, to start KDE5, which is a buggy piece of shit, where nothing works as it should, so that you are stuck with a broken DE for about 3 years or so, till it finally is usable. Then you have a year of joy and perfection, until the retards decide that they cant have a working system, and must now start KDE6 from scratch.

Finest bullshit I've read today. KDE5 was not made from scratch at all, in fact it is just a refactoring of KDE4 in smaller components (and a new flat theme for Plasma). If you had ever used it, you'd have noticed that very little has changed in the user experience, certainly nothing you'd expect from a major version increase.

I want to DISABLE mouse acceleration, which you can only do in Gnome through a config file, not the Settings GUI. And then I want to ENABLE constant negative mouse acceleration, so I don't have to switch DPI when I move from Windows to Fedora. This isn't actual acceleration because it isn't a derivative of speed, I basically just want it slower.

Krunner is far beyond the compition, meaning if you have tried to use kde, using anything else will be hard.
Kwin has a lot of nice features and they are easy to access thanks to the graphical frontend to the config files
Kde hotkeys are really nice, being able to search through them makes it easy to find the thing you are looking for and change anything if you need to.
The kde file dialog is really good. You can write stuff in the filter field and only show the files you want.
The applications are generally better than the alternatives (dolphin vs nautilus, kate vs gedit, kompare vs meld, gwenview vs eye-of-gnome, etc)

The widget system has been drastically changed from 4 to 5, so they are totally worthless now.
The activities system is a weird concept and it isn't really made that well (maybe I am using it wrong)
The new flat theme is not that good, but a lot of people seem to like it.
There is bugs in almost every feature and it seems like everything is developed and then released without any followup.

There is good and bad about every system. If every feature they have now would suddenly worked as intended, it would be a very good system.
But it is more likely that when that day approaches kde will make a new version so there will be something else to fix.
