Guts thread
>>54201862
How's the 285 holding up for vidya?
>>54201862
muh guts.
>>54201890
would also like to know the answer to this question. Need a cheap GPU for a friend.
>>54201918
6/10, would be 7 or 8/10 if you didn't have those search lights coming from the side like that.
Also
>2560x1080
Senpai, should've gone for 2560x1440 or 3440x1440.
Still waiting on my new RAM.
>>54201862
Ayy lmao
Still not satisfied with the temperatures completely. The CPU can get up to like 65C in games and the GPU gets to around 55C. The motherboard hits like 60C, SSD hit like 45C, and the HDD was at like 55C, which is 5C above max recommended operating temperature. So, I'm considering switching to the following:
>NZXT Manta
>Phanteks Evolv ITX
>Fractal Design Nano S
In any of these cases, I'd be adding a second 240mm radiator to supplement the cooling, just because it has the space for it.
>>54201944
the LEDs aren't nearly as bright in person, especially with the side panel on.
And I got the monitor for $109 on Black Friday, I'm saving up for something a bit better. I'd like to get a 4k 32'' for less than $500.
Any recommendations for a monitor that suits my needs? Doesn't have to be 21:9, although I do like the aspect ratio.
>>54201918
I'd just get a used r9 290.
>>54201944
1440p ips is best.
Dual E5-2670s, 32GB ECC DDR3, and a 7970

>Any recommendations for a monitor that suits my needs? Doesn't have to be 21:9, although I do like the aspect ratio.
Monoprice has some decent monitors for the price, they have a 28" 4k for $350 and are apparently going to get a 34" 3440x1440 later this year.
I personally got two 2560x1440p for $540 on sale.
>>54201918
>>54201890
its basically a 380, works nicely at 1080p medium/high
>>54202031
2GB vram isn't a problem yet?
what should i get?
corsair h80i gt or nzxt kraken
>inb4 aircoolers
nah i want something new
The bottom card is gone and ram has been replaced, needs some white leds, noctua mem fans and an artsier pic..
>>54201862
In the process of upgrading. Eventually going to buy a new cooler and SSD.
>>54202828
I need a new larger case. Any cheap recommendations? Mid tower should be fine unless there's some great sale on full towers
Postin early
Will be getting SSD soon, which brands should I consider?
>>54202842
>>54202077
nope
:^)
>>54203080
Thats a lot of porn
>>54203113
That's nothing next to
>>54201944
>>54202950
Intel, Samsung
my build soon is 250gb ssd for os
and using raid 10 for four wd blue 2tb for everything else
am doing it right?
>not having a full tower in the current year
shiggy diggy doo
>>54203331
>3 different sized 1080p monitors
kys senpai
>>54203509
23.6" 24" 22"
Eh, it could be worse. At least they don't have shitty glossy plastic all over them
>>54203617
Once you have matched monitors you'll never want to go back.
>>54203781
I'm working on it. Slowly, but surely.
It's not really a huge priority for the time being since they aren't TOO different. Just gotta finish up with the upgrades on my computer first, then matching monitors are next on the list.
>>54203838
Only thing you need is Pascal
>>54203331
>three mismatched memory sticks on a dual channel board
What the fuck are you doing? Three with screens mite b gud but that shit with your memory is fucking retarded
>>54203904
And a new CPU cooler, and more HyperX Fury White modules.
Then there's purely aesthetic (but cheap) things like nicer cables. Chances are I'll also need a new PSU before Pascal happens.
>>54203905
Functionally it's perfectly fine. Aesthetically, yes, it's retarded.
Wew, i cracked my granite slab in two when the youtube didnt load for half an hour. I feel so bad now.
>>54203946
>perfectly fine
What?
I think I might go mATX for my next build.
>>54204237
It doesn't hamper stability or real-world performance.
Might get slightly lower numbers in some synthetic benchmarks and be more difficult to overclock (slowest modules set the limit), but that's about the only difference you'd ever see with mismatched RAM as compared to matched RAM. Though it's not like overclocking RAM makes a difference in the real world at all unless you do some VERY heavy database workloads.
If you knew just a little bit about building computers, you'd know that running mismatched RAM is the least of anyone's worries.

>Though it's not like overclocking RAM makes a difference in the real world at all unless you do some VERY heavy database workloads.
Or play GTA5, DDR4 really sees a decent FPS increase when overclocked to over 3000mhz
rekt
>>54204407
Well that would make GTA5 like, the only game in existence where RAM speed matters.
>>54204586
It's one of the few, but they exist
>>54201862
>IDE cable
bruh
>>54201918
is it possible to remove that shelf over the end of the GPU?
I always thought it looked weird.
>>54201946
I think I saw you on instagram.
I can see where one tube goes to the radiator, where does the other come from, the res?
>X99
yesss
>>54202012
That motherboard plate makes me hard.
>>54202950
>MSI as fuck
>>54203331
>having a full tower in current year
>>54204261
Do it
What timing, found my old guts photos, all thats changed is i added a wd blue and little dust
>>54204261
same, though it doesnt matter too much
>>54204220
nice, do the greens give you any trouble?
>>54204055
I like this internal raw look, but idk about the slab on the case
>>54204780
Only ever used the Greens for storage of media and such, never had any issues with them.
They are slow though so not viable as OS or game drive for me.
I really wish they made an aluminum variant of the ITX version of my case.
>>54205246
8/10, I don't like the aesthetics but I'm sure it helps keep noise down a lot.
>>54204309
You're out of your league, son. I've been building computers for 18 years, professionally for the past 4.
Mismatched ram IS the worry of that build, by adding a stick you're hampering overall performance doing ANYTHING, including gaming where ram speeds have been proven to make a nice amount of difference especially with newer platforms.
1/10 for making me reply.
