Why is the internet so slow in this country?
>>54197166
because the people are too quick-witted
Because spiders live in the exchange boxes and they can't upgrade the equipment
its a fucking island in the middle of nowhere
>>54197166
Because Jewstra
>>54197166
It's not that bad. I'm pretty happy with Iris
Optus 4g so far
>>54197166
They shit post constantly, eating up all the countries bandwidth.
Sheepfucker here posting off our sweet fibre network while yours got shitcanned.
Haha faggots.
>slow
it's ok lad
>>54197638
is that FTTN or FTTP?
Or FTTB?
Because Autistralia is at the bottom of the world so data has to fight against gravity.
>>54197638
This, it's not that bad OP. Although I wish I had better upload.
>>54197647
FTTP
I'd have faster if cunts offered anything for sale but 100/40 is the best I can get without swearing allegiance to the all blacks and moving to dunedin
>>54197705
Kinda miss the >100mbps download but upload speed above 10mbps is a whole new world
I work from home so it's a huge timesaver when I'm uploading new software builds and shit
>>54197166
Because gubmint ineptitude and a public that is too drunk to care.
We're doomed.
90% of the bandwith is dedicated to shitposting.
>>54197720
It's bull shit that they don't offer more than 3mbps on cable. Should be getting at least 20mbps up.
>>54197679
If your gravity logic was true. All amerifat burger-spheres would roll into mexico.
Is that why Trump wants to build a wall?
>>54197755
I get faster 4G speed on my work sim than I do on my ADSL2+ at home. And now telstra is talking about dropping the gigabit 5G bomb, while fortress NBN is still trying to work out the difference between their dicks and their shitters.
> telstras face when they make NBN redundant.
>>54197761
It's not the up-down part of up-down magicland that makes it fight against gravity, it's the magic part of up-down magicland.
>>54197850
Now I want to name my servers after Australian names
>Johno
>Steveo
>Bruce
>Sheila
>>54197845
Can only imagine how much telstra will charge for data on 5G.
Speed might be better, but until they actually make mobile data affordable for heavy users, not going to replace any landlines.
>>54197921
ever got a big bill from telstra?
>>54197934
I got a $3k bill once.
>home internet goes out
>Telstra can't get it back up
>they put 10 gigs of data on my phone for me to use, say to call if I use it all for a top up
>Use it all in an hour, call. They tell me to just keep using it and they won't charge me for going over my quota
>use 300+ gigs on my phones 4g
>huge as fuck bill next month
>have to argue for hours that I shouldn't have to pay it, had to send shit loads of proof that they said I could use that data for free.
>>54197980
Did you have to pay for it?
>>54197166
I've got 100 mbit NBN and 2ms ping that works. Used to be cogested as fuck until I got the whole building to complain to their respective isps so that NBN stopped writing it off as 'nothing wrong' and fixed the damn thing. Now awesome 24/7
>>54198027
*NBN Co
>>54198023
No. I had proof they they told me to use the data.
>>54197980
>10 gigs of data
How did you do that in one hour?
>>54198098
Porno
someone i know just got unlimited 110Mb/s NBN, and she's still planning on moving, crazy
>>54197934
Not on telstra.
But go name me any provider with decent mobile data.
>>54197638
>3ms

>>54198174

>>54197166
monopoly owns all the lines
why is the service shit guize
>>54197166
Because our country leaders think that we're still in the dark ages.
>>54198174
>>54198181
wifi turns my ping and speeds to shit
but i can't run cable in this house
All you other aussies have NBN and all that crap while I'm sitting here with ADSL2+
>>54198538
I've got satellite and yes it is very slow
>>54197638
>>54197705
>>54198181
Hows iiNet? I'm with SkyMesh and it's sorta lackluster, I can hit about those speeds through cable using speedtest but real world performance is substantially lower, even to websites. It seems like their backend is all congested. I did try Telstra prior but their upload speeds were horrendous and I see they still are.
I would really just love a solid 90Mb (almost 12MB) active connection but just doesn't seem possible, through any real world testing the best I can get is 6MB (48Mb) speed and this can be through downloading from multiple sources and torrents all at once and most all of it together will achieve is 6MB. I consider this unacceptable, you can barely stream HD videos let alone UHD videos without having buffering/hickups. And to think the current prime minister as well as the previous believe "no one will ever need more than 20Mb (2.5MB) speed". I consider 5MB (40Mb) to be the minimum acceptable speed PER a device.
>>54198692
Bingo, when FTTN rocks up at my house I am only going to order 50/20. I have no need for anything else and like you said 40mbps should be the minimum accepted.
Anybody know how aussiebroadband is?
>>54197638
If you're rich as fuck, ADSL2+ is all that's available
>>54197166
stupid politics
>lol wut is fiber? XD
hopefully it will change soon but politics is slow here
The internet is slow because of Telstra. It's the magic of (poorly-executed) privatisation. We will never be rid of them, now.
Malcolm Turnbull
>>54198890
senpai I live in southeast suburbs of melbourne, the only thing i'm rich in is shitskin neighbours
if you live in a house, cable isn't terrible (aside from the uploads, reeeee)
where we get fucked is apartments and blocks of units getting adsl only
>>54199011
>The NBN is slow because of Telstra
Sounds like you forgot to pay your bill, and now you're a buttmad Dodo slave with stockholm syndrome.
>>54197878
Needs more dijereedoo mate
>>54199372
>>The NBN is slow because of Telstra
You could at least quote me correctly. The NBN is fast, but most people don't have it. I actually do have it and it's very nice, although still marred by data caps which largely stem from the way Telstra (and NBN Co., which is a similar entity) operates. The internet is slow, by which I mean that it's slow and shit for the majority of Australians and will be for the foreseeable future.
>tfw have to put up with this shit until I eventually get FttN which may or may not fix the problem.
$69.99 per month, unlimited
not too slow
50 a month unlimted data due to exetel not giving a fuck about capping
>>54197218
Haha I actually lold. So true. It's pretty much all I do as an aus
>Can only get ADSL1 because no ADSL2 ports
>address not even on NBN map
>mfw max 8000mbps connection.
>>54200204
>8 gigabits/sec
what the fuck are you complaining about?
>>54197638
>Faster than 98% of Australia
>>54198951
>it's politics job to get fast internet
lol
>>54200218
>8000kbps
I'm so angry I can't even type properly
>>54200222
>>Faster than 98% of Australia
but it is faster than the majority in every country I would guess
if you're not a borderline autist, you usually don't need >10 mbps
>>54200245
at least 8Mb/s is the best you can possibly get ADSL1
I've been with TPG for the last 6 years on a line that syncs are about 8200kbps
Just signed up for the $99 Telstra bundle because I'm tired of TPG's shitty network.
Telstra might cost me $40 a month more but they have the best network
>mfw paying $99 a month for an 8mbit connection
It's because the public doesn't know jack shit about technology. If half the voting populace were to have a firm grasp of what the issue is, you can bet your ass the politicians would make more of an effort to keep up with the times. Worst part is these dumb fucks that think keeping copper is a good thing because it saves money in the short term, but they haven't thought about the long term.
>>54200287
they have thought about the long term, they just know it'll be someone else's problem by the time copper has been milked for all it's worth
>>54197187
This lmao
>>54197166
Our government intentionally limits out speeds to reduce competition with news organizations. This happens because the 2 major parties are backed by newspapers and owners of tv networks
>Get 25/5 Fixed wireless unlimited for $80 a month
>Couldbeworse
at least i get nice pings 40ms or less
It isn't for me.
>>54200266
>$99 a month for an 8mbit connection
>$99 for one fucking megabyte a second
Haha holy fuck, I feel bad for people who don't have NBN. I pay the same price for x12 the speed.
I'm getting fucked, but at least I'm not getting fucked as hard as the rest of you.
>>54197166
Our previous Prime Minister not only stopped the boats, but he also stopped the superior internets from happening. The cunt believed no one needs a connection faster than 24mbps.
Every attempt they tried to move away from FTTP has ended in failure.
>>54201184
same here, I think it must be poorfags who have less than us
>>54201232
>yfw there are cunts in fucking dunedin nz paying like 100 kiwibux ($88 aud) a month for unlimited fibre at 1000/500mbps
>>54201262
At least we don't fuck animals, r-right?
>>54197638
This is a real Australian internet.
not downloading or watching anything right now either
>>54201249
They stop it out of spite so nothing will be achieved but the costs of the venture overall stacks up so in the end they can be like " LOOK, SEE HOW MUCH IT ALL COSTED? *points finger*" then they can make a plan that "costs less" so it's like "see we're the good guys we're doing it but it costs MUCH LESS" but in 5 to 10 years this half assed infrastructure will need to be upgraded here and there, not to mention the nonstop upkeep costs of maintaining crappy copper.
Reminds me of a bitter ex wife that will jump through all the hoops to rack up as much costs as possible for you to pay.
>>54198692
You can't watch HD videos with 6MB/s? What? I have no problems watching 1080p 60fps porn on a 30Mb/s connection.
>>54197166
It's banter.
>>54201289
i've seriously considered taking it up and moving over there
>>54197166
Because you dickheads voted for the party that destroyed the NBN and replaced it with a piece of shit pretending to be the NBN.

Sydney.
Don't kid yourself. It's all shit.
>>54203489
kek no wonder you think it's shit
Take a visit to the superior Melbourne, it's not known as the most livable city in the world for nothing.
Meanwhile in my third world country...
>>54203459
>This literally means nothing when most content is actually on us or european servers.
CDNs bring a surprising amount of it closer to home these days
But we never had problems with speeds to the US since there's a cable running from Sydney to San Jose
>>54203518
Prefer Brisbane. I've been. Yeah, it is nice. But not great.
>>54203754
Post speedtest to local server and us/europe server
>>54203856
I haven't been to Brisbane, but I went to the Gold Coast over the summer holidays, it was really nice there and the weather was great compared to here.
And I could ride my long board everywhere, which was great. Can't really do that in Melbourne.
>>54201262
>>54201289
>>54201434
I went on a holiday there a few months ago. Free wifi came with the apartment block I was in. It was 18mb/s at most. It was actually so crazy for me, since at home in Australia I get 400kb/s at most, for probably the same price that a resident gets 18mb/s. Absolute shocker, the internet is in Australia.
