I get faster 4G speed on my work sim than I do on my ADSL2+ at home. And now telstra is talking about dropping the gigabit 5G bomb, while fortress NBN is still trying to work out the difference between their dicks and their shitters.

Hows iiNet? I'm with SkyMesh and it's sorta lackluster, I can hit about those speeds through cable using speedtest but real world performance is substantially lower, even to websites. It seems like their backend is all congested. I did try Telstra prior but their upload speeds were horrendous and I see they still are.

I would really just love a solid 90Mb (almost 12MB) active connection but just doesn't seem possible, through any real world testing the best I can get is 6MB (48Mb) speed and this can be through downloading from multiple sources and torrents all at once and most all of it together will achieve is 6MB. I consider this unacceptable, you can barely stream HD videos let alone UHD videos without having buffering/hickups. And to think the current prime minister as well as the previous believe "no one will ever need more than 20Mb (2.5MB) speed". I consider 5MB (40Mb) to be the minimum acceptable speed PER a device.
>>
>>54198692
Bingo, when FTTN rocks up at my house I am only going to order 50/20. I have no need for anything else and like you said 40mbps should be the minimum accepted.

Anybody know how aussiebroadband is?

>>The NBN is slow because of Telstra
You could at least quote me correctly. The NBN is fast, but most people don't have it. I actually do have it and it's very nice, although still marred by data caps which largely stem from the way Telstra (and NBN Co., which is a similar entity) operates. The internet is slow, by which I mean that it's slow and shit for the majority of Australians and will be for the foreseeable future.
>>
>tfw have to put up with this shit until I eventually get FttN which may or may not fix the problem.

I've been with TPG for the last 6 years on a line that syncs are about 8200kbps

Just signed up for the $99 Telstra bundle because I'm tired of TPG's shitty network.

Telstra might cost me $40 a month more but they have the best network

>mfw paying $99 a month for an 8mbit connection
>>
It's because the public doesn't know jack shit about technology. If half the voting populace were to have a firm grasp of what the issue is, you can bet your ass the politicians would make more of an effort to keep up with the times. Worst part is these dumb fucks that think keeping copper is a good thing because it saves money in the short term, but they haven't thought about the long term.
>>
>>54200287
they have thought about the long term, they just know it'll be someone else's problem by the time copper has been milked for all it's worth

This is a real Australian internet.
not downloading or watching anything right now either
>>
>>54201249

They stop it out of spite so nothing will be achieved but the costs of the venture overall stacks up so in the end they can be like " LOOK, SEE HOW MUCH IT ALL COSTED? *points finger*" then they can make a plan that "costs less" so it's like "see we're the good guys we're doing it but it costs MUCH LESS" but in 5 to 10 years this half assed infrastructure will need to be upgraded here and there, not to mention the nonstop upkeep costs of maintaining crappy copper.

Reminds me of a bitter ex wife that will jump through all the hoops to rack up as much costs as possible for you to pay.
