Ok /g/. It's time.
Rate the browsers.
Which ones have the potential in the future and which ones don't?
Which ones are good now and which ones aren't? Why?

Chrome is the new IE. Proof me wrong.

Something like Firefox hopefully. I can't live without my Firefox addons.

Firefox I use predominantly. I do not trust Google or Microsoft, I think they track peoples searches.

You forgot one of the most important browsers for anonymity... Tor browser.
>>
>>54190542
The only browser worth looking at is netsurf, but due to having fuckall devs and actually caring about riscos compatibility, it's neverever be useable. On the plus side, it's ridiculously fast right now.

midori: cancer
opera: became cancer
chrome: botnet cancer
brave: super cancer
microsoft edge: hyper cancer
mozilla firefox: it's shit, but it's the least cancerous out of the lot. it is quickly going down the shitter though and the forks are even worse.

what a sad display.

I, too, love a browser that crashes completely every 5 seconds despite one of its major features being sandboxed tabs. I, too, love using a browser that eats through 16GB of ram with less than 20 tabs open. I, too, love it when my browser spies on me without my consent.

dropping in to remind everyone that Brave is just offloading telemetry analytics to the client side and leveraging their exclusive access to data to sell adspace at a premium on sites they have nothing to do with

Dragon and ice dragon IMO
Opera used to be interesting but it never kept up the same.

Tbqh to this day my favorite is still Netscape navigator
>>

Also they are portable which is a plus. I just wish they would find a way to decrease the size so you could email them to locked down systems/nets

Slowkit is complete fucking dogshit and if I had a billion dollars I'd throw money at Mozilla foundation to keep Gecko alive purely to stave off how cancerous slowkit is.
>>
>>54190542

k-meleon should change to Blink soon or they will disappear like Mozilla
>>
>>54191137

no, they bring an open source platform for web rendering.

Open to change, open to add new stuff, open to everyone

inb4 a mom joke

>I, too, love a browser that crashes completely every 5 seconds

In the years I have used Chrome, the absolutely only crash I have seen is when flash has fucked up and a single tab has frozen for a few seconds. That's it. I have never seen Chrome crash. Firefox on the other hand...

>I, too, love using a browser that eats through 16GB of ram with less than 20 tabs open

Chrome works better on my old laptop with 4gb of ram than firefox. On that laptop it never uses more than 1gig, usually under 400mb. On my desktop with 32gb of ram, it usually uses 1-2gb which makes sense because it has more available to use; that's how it should be.

>I, too, love it when my browser spies on me without my consent.
Boohoo my tinfoil is too tight.
>>
I don't understand why Chrome isn't capable of implementing lazy loading like Firefox.
>>
Chromium is the most responsive and fast as shit.
>>
>>54198677
The speed is only due to pre-loading. Also, there are conflicting reports as to whether nasty google code is still in there.

I play it safe with FF, where anonymity isn't based on faith.

Opera is perfect, everything else is shit.
>>
>>54190542
Honestly Edge. Chrome has stagnated and isn't getting any faster. Edge is perfect in terms of speed, but has no extensions. It gets extensions later this year.
>>
>Try browser X
>Kinda stutters while scrolling with smooth scrolling enabled

>Much smoother, some stutter here and there but it's like 5% of what it was before

Ok I'm beginning to thing my GPU is being a gigantic whore. It's fine with games though. Any ideas?
>>
>>54198857
Have you tried Chromium?
>>
>>54198880
Yep.

Chromium, Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Opera, Vivaldi, even Safari on a hackintosh (this one was kinda better in terms of performance than the rest surprisingly).

I'm beginning to think it does have to do something to do with my GPU. I just don't know what exactly.

midori=buggy and webkit is shit
opera=closed and probably chinese botnet now, better ui than chrome, good extension support
chrome=max botnet, shitty ui, pretty solid, good extensions
chromium= pretty much above but slightly less botnet
vavaldi=closed, buggy JavaScript app on top of chrome, cool ideas
firefox=retarded devs, bad default ui, highly customizable, best extensions, not properly sandboxed

install GNU IceCat to be perfectly honest desu
