Best free Anti-Virus Software?

I think putting a bear near your computer will fend off any hackers trying to infest your machine.

Simple. Run any Linux Distro. Problem solved.

Common sense 2016 and malwarebytes

Common sense pro + Gentoo
>>
Tronscript

But your best line of defense will always be your brain (if applicable)
>>
Common Sense 2017 Beta is your best choice.

For a secondary option, I'd suggest Bitdefender Free.

But Linux can't play muh visual novels

Panda + Malwarebytes

I got a 9 month bitdefender key for like $1 the last time
I'll just keep that subscription running for less than a cent a day

Of course it can, you're just too retarded to work out how.
>>
>>54177003
IF you're going to watch dangerous porn and you're going to do shit that risk you getting virused, why not install linux on a 30 - 50 gb partition that you can boot to when you do such things???
>>
>>54177003
I used to think my superior common sense was enough but then i saw an infographic on this board where avira and malwarebytes were suggested so i installed them to see if they would find anything. They did find tons of shit.
>>
>>54181589
SOmetimes you can just know when you get virues, it happened to be so many times - I felt like I Had no virus and installed malwarebytes.. surprise really no viruses.

I sometimes felt like I just got virused installed malwarebytes and surprise I really got viruses.

COmmon sense is really the best because you can see from my example it's more accurate than tools.

BUt having malwarebytes installed and running it once a week is enough alongside common sense.
>>
>>54181562
>swapping operating systems to watch porno
Don't do it, you'll be installing arch and watching children's cartoons before you know it.
>>
>>54181361
this.
best antivirus you can ever have.
The problem for people is that they don't have it.
>>
>>54177003
Common Sense
>>
>>54181608
THis could happen yes, but some people are degenerate - maybe yes they deserve viruses. Pornography is a disease not something to perpetuate.
>>
>>54181589
SOmetimes they're not viruses. For instance LOIC/HOIC are usually flagged by a/v programs. So are some cracks, trainers, etc. Some even interact with CheatEngine
>>
>>54181622
>Pornography is a disease not something to perpetuate

How do you get malware by watching pornography?
>>
>>54181635
YOu're a beginner at using computers this is the main way.
>>
>>54181627
How do you know the executable hasn't been packed with malicious code. LOIC for example has been overhyped by the media and is probably a prime example for my point. Every minecraft kiddy and his friends have installed it from filehosting sites
>>
>>54181627
yeah i do know about the cracks and trainers but what those programs found was some other oddly named shit that i couldn't be arsed to research, but i do use torrents a lot so i suppose it's impossible to stay clean without some sort of protection, like going to whores and fucking them without condom hoping that your common sense will let you choose the whore that won't give you a disease
>>
>>54181650
Well best solution is to join a good private tracker, and download there from most popular / trusted uploaders.

I never got viruses that way for over 8 years on the same tracker.

But even on private trackers, download on verified torrents - and download the cracks yourself from the creators websites.
>>
Malwarebytes for occasional scan. No real time protection required
>>
>>54181662
sounds like too much of a hassle mate, i could get by with the occasional cleaning of viruses and stuff
>>
Just run common sense 2017. All you need is the simple bare necessities
>>
>>54181696
Clicking download button and having a guarantee of clean files is a hassle?

The only hassle is getting invited to the trackers, but if you're non degenerate and not lazy you can inside any tracker you want.

Guess you deserve the viruses and problems that follow.
>>
>>54181706
Yeah i am too lazy to waste a second of my time when this is a non-issue for me anyways. I am sorry i am not a 1337 hacker like you.

Just a reminder that in the popular www.av-test.org you should look at Real-World Testing more than anything else.
>>
>>54181716
Lmao I forgive you.
>>
Portable virus scanner for scans.
HTTPS Everywhere and uMatrix to keep you safe while browsing
>>
>>54181603
Proper malware can't be even found with any security suite once it breaks in, while it could be blocked with a deny-policy AV.
>>
I dont understand why people say common sense is enough, like having a software wasting 0.001% of resource is so bad that you can't install it. Common sense MAY be enough, but you won't lose anything running also an AV, which MAY saves you; better safe than sorry.
>>
Avast.
>>
>>54181732
How can they produce a detection statistic from detections from 0days?? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of a 0day lol
>>
>>54181887
Any proper malware wouldn't be picked up by a scanner anyways. Virus scanners are the wrong approach to detecting viruses, better off to monitor network
>>
>>54181911
By having outdated definitions.
>>
>>54181924
As in definition of the word 0day?
>>
>>54181917
Infact one should use a deny-policy AV, >>54181812
>>
>>54181931
Maybe I don't understand what you mean. It's a "0day" malware if AV doesn't have its ~code in AV definitions, therefore to test them you simply run it with obsolete definitions.
>>
>>54181945
This.
The posted >>54181732 Comodo Security Suite is free, and can be configured with its HIPS to even not need any antivirus.
>>
>>54181485
Or maybe you're too retarded to realize that Wine is shit and Linux is shit in general for video games

Suck my dick dumbfuck
>>
>>54181662
Or just read the fucking comments
>>
>>54181648
I was refering to some .dll which emulates Steam's DRM, usually .exe files are not the ones flagged.

>>54181650
Same here, but never had problems
>>
How would you go about diagnosing whether or not you've been infected by a FUD?

Kaspersky and Malewarebytes both show up clean, but I'd like to be completely sure, are there any signs like outgoing signals or processes to look out for?
>>
>>54183474
I don't think you're using the term FUD correctly, fud meaning fully undetected?
>>
>>54183596
fully undetectable yes, but it must transfer data somehow, I am asking if there is any point in trying to monitor outgoing connects and what to look for to determine if there is anything suspicious going on, even though my AV doesn't pick up on anything.
>>
>>54183679
Eh you can try but unless your well versed in monitoring traffic i doubt you'll have much luck. Most well crafted viruses will transmit data using a SSL at a minimum
>>
>>54177003
Common sense, newfriend. Next time post this on >>>/wsr/

ClamAV ist the best free (as in free speech) anti-virus software, I know.
>>
>>54181648
But does it work?
When the anonymous meme was in full swing I wanted to download it but my spidey-senses told me that downloading it from ezfreefiledownload.meme.com was a bad idea

>>54177003
malwarebytes+outpost firewall+bitdefender
>>
>>54181945
doesn't kaspersky do that?
>>
>>54181361
Why use an automated program to alleviate human labor when you can just do it all manually?
>>
>use common sense 2.0
>download update to program on official website that you've been using for years
>the next week it's announced their website was hacked
>anyone who downloaded an exe and ran it from their website in the last week will have their computer compromised
>"b-b-but I used common sense!"
