Ubuntu mate if better in every single way.

Any ubuntu spin is really easy to pick up, mint is just shit though. Not only is it not easier but it's even worse performing and more bloated.

Yeah, it's uncomfortably close to Windows Aero.

I'm hoping with Unity 8 they take an approach closer to Windows 10's design with a combination of blurred overlays and flat, sharp icons.

Tbh, I gave Kubuntu another shot today with 16.04 and so far I'm impressed. It doesn't load super slowly anymore and hasn't crashed on me (yet). Only problem has been the driver manager wouldn't detect anything so I had to install my graphics card driver manually.

I do have xubuntu 16.04 downloaded and ready to go if it starts getting fucky like previous versions of kubuntu did.
>>
I've actually been really impressed with Antergos; super easy setup, no real issues (besides some problems with updates temporarily breaking things, but that's to be expected when you're based on Arch), and overall a great experience. I've actually started recommending it to people as a first linux distro due to how easy it is to get everything working.

The only concern is that a lot of the time when software says it supports linux it means that they support Debian/Ubuntu and only offer .deb packages, and then you end up having to build from source (unless someone has already put it in the AUR).

Pantheon is hacky, really hacky, it refuses to run in anything that it isn't Ubuntu 14.04, and it's glitched.
It's not THAT bad, but it's glitched.
You can still use it with no problem, but you'll still have some annoying glitch here and there.

>>
>>54161202
>>54161202
You have to take into account popularity and support and a number of peripheral problems. For instance Mint has a poor security culture.

That's why I think Ubuntu Mate is the comfiest, you get all the advantages of having a well supported and serious distro and you ignore the worst part of Ubuntu which is the Unity system.

Furthermore it's designed for noobs so it will just werk. No other distro will just werk as well except Mint but as I've mentioned before they are amateurish.

I just can't take mint as a distro seriously.

They should have gone with Ubuntu cinnamon, or Cinnabuntu and worked as an Ubuntu branch.

Instead they put something like 6 ads on their page, as well as asking for donations. It's just a scam and so many people fall for it.

The gentoo forums, the debian irc and mailinglists and the debian handbook are at least as good as the arch wiki and can be used in addition to it. The arch wiki is mostly used by people that don't even use arch.
