Yup. Hasn't changed since I tried GNOME on manjaro. That's why I don't use it, you can't change scroll direction and you can't disable acceleration on a USB mouse., while you can on Plasma

This is the current panel. libinput has only supported flat acceleration since last October, you can set it with libinput itself.

Exactly OP. Gnome is to Ubuntu, what stink is to shit. Not to knock-on Unity too much, but it is an absolute failure of a DE, and the second shittiest one. I mean given what Canonical is competing against--Xfce, Mate, Cinnamon, KDE, Windows, and even Mac--it had to of been crystal clear that they weren't going to create the best DE. Not even eighth best.

So they took a different, albeit retarded approach instead. Someone said, hey, let's make the worst one of all time, and everyone in the company agreed that that was way more doable, and so they got to work, working their little asses off, and thus Unity was born. Unfortunately, as I said, it's an absolute failure, for Gnome 3 exists, and it is the worst DE of all time. Unity is such a failure that it fails at complete failure too. There's literally no reason to use it, not even ironically, if you happen to be a hipster douche bag. Science has yet to unravel the mystery of how that there are in fact people using it anyway. I guess the Gnome developers are pretty proud that no one can beat them at their own game though.

Not all extensions are "third-party" either. Third-party is a strange term to use in the context of FOSS.

Obviosuly because the theme is completely incompatible with regular applications. White text and dark background always happens to bring problems with it, this derivate is mostly useless in it's out of the box state.
>>

There's a dark version of the default theme Adwaita. If this breaks apps you should report it.

>Vanilla GNOME is just fine

Is fine if you have a tablet pc. Is the worst thing ever if you have a mouse.

Third party because they are not mantained by gnome devs and they broke them in every gnome release.
>>
>>54155102
the application menu is not 3rd party, you literally just click 2 buttons to enable it...
>>
>>54155102

I just showed you a whole set of extensions maintained upstream on git.gnome.org. What constitutes a GNOME developer anyway? Is Rhythmbox a GNOME app or third-party? What about gnome-mpv? Free software centres around loosely defined communities, not first parties and third parties.

>Is the worst thing ever if you have a mouse.

GNOME is extremely mouse and, especially, keyboard friendly. That's how I use it. I tried using it on a touchscreen laptop and it's really bad currently. Don't make things up.

wow that looks great~
but does firefox have the black textbox problem?

there is this issue on fedora 23 if you use global dark theme and firefox. if you go on google and search some stuff the search box would sometimes flash a dark grey color. chrome also looked hideous with the global dark theme. using numix theme didnt resolve it.
same thing happened on fedora 22.

ill jump ship to ubuntu 16.04 if firefox doesnt have webpage issues with that dark theme.

https://packages.gentoo.org/packages/gnome-base/gnome-light
>>
>>54156358

So what, 32px, 16px, 8px, 4px? You have to sanitize the size ranges somewhere.

Before 3.18 you could make the icons so small the labels disappeared and that's completely broken, or they could be so large only one column fit in a moderately sized window. Again, broken. 48px is fine if you take the standard use case of an icon view being viewing icons, not stuffing as much information on screen as you can. To me, the real fix for having denser views is to cut down on padding and make it resize dynamically, which is what they've been working on.
