Finished building this today.
Mostly my same old parts in a new Fractal Nano S ITX, and a new 390X

Very neat and nice, but kinda boring, no offence. You've done a good job colour matching though.

I kinda wish I could be happy with an ordinary build, I would save so much money... So don't lament being boring too much.

>>
>>54148880
>5Ghz is for show
its an FX 8320, anything you do to it is for show because it's a garbage CPU for the price. For the cost of half of your water loop you'd have had an air cooled intel that performed better in pretty much every metric.

It's obvious you didn't build it for actual performance, or you would never be using the 8320 to begin with.
>>
>>54148927
Notice I said
>rendering
in one of my other posts. As far as cheap multi threaded performance goes the 8320 is the king.
>>
>>54148965
Like I said, for the cost of half your water loop, you could have gotten an 8 core Xeon off ebay, or a 6 core intel with 40% more IPC making it more powerful than that 8320 for rendering in all but the very worst case scenario, and the 8 core Xeon would laugh at the 8320 with scorn.

As someone who does rendering on a 5820k, he's right. I very highly doubt your 8 core 8320, even at 5Ghz. Could best my 6 core 5820k at 3.8Ghz
>>
>>54148965
i was the guy who criticized your water cooling, not the guy that said you screwed up, but as an 8350 user, you screwed up
>>
>>54148984
Except I got all of the watercooling parts for $100 off a friend, minus the GPU block. And with microcenter deals the processor was only $70. For the cost I really couldn't have done much better
>>
>>54149136

d o l l a r s for no real improvement
>>
>>54149136
Maybe it happened that way, but for literally anyone else buying at full price, or close to it. That's a terrible build for rendering.

For CPU bound rending my 5820k is about twice as fast for single threaded, and at least 2/3rds faster for mutli-threaded as well.

this is nice, similar to mine.

On a note thats not really related to computer cases, satisfaction cant be found with material possessions. Telling you this is useless because only self revelation will make it seem so obvious. It also takes some specific event to happen in your life, whether they happen now, or when your 60, they will eventually happen
>>
>>54149284
Maybe the specific event is when the next part for his PC arrives?
>>
>>54149333
that will give you temporary satisfaction, you will never be sattisfied permanently
>>
>>54149342
This all seems very vague, I'd recommend to just keep buying parts.

One of the few boards with all the features I wanted and didn't have bootloop and other issues. The Asus deluxe board with the white heatsinks was considered but the reviews are mixed
>>
>>54155412
>but the reviews are mixed
It's an amazing motherboard, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. If you actually read reviews on obscure tech websites nobody has issues, but if you read reviews on tech illiterate sites like newegg, amazon, and tigerdirect, then you will get a bunch of people who fuck up their motherboards and blame the manufacturer.
>>
>>54155412
this >>54155896
people are fucking stupid they'll end up installing the wrong driver or having their drives in the wrong partition and give the board a 1/5. even small insignificant issues like "I don't like the blue on the heatsink" turns into a 3/5
>>
>>54155896
it has 60+ reviews and half of them are POST issues or bootloops.

If this one gives me trouble I'll give that one a go, but not gonna bother just for aesthetics.
>>
>>54156052
People tend to only leave reviews when they have negative experiences
Look at the number of people who bought the board, and look at the number of people who reviewed it badly. That gives you your answer

Biggest regret I've ever had was buying a 3570S in the hopes it'd produce less heat while performing as well as my 3570K.
Turns out 15W of TDP doesn't make much of a difference, and it was noticeably slower even without benching.
Nothing in the mail, might upgrade to pascal or polaris if they're good.

First time build.. when i turned on the pc everything was fine, no noise etc. The only problem i had was that the thermal paste went a bit off the CPU but i cleaned it safely..

Also do those stickers or the evo do anything dangerous? Cause if they remove them it says that the warranty goes off
>>
>>54156996
That sucks, but the rad sounds like a good idea.
Also I just noticed thomas' face, I like it.
>>54157229
You mean like that yellow sticker that looks like it's on the fan cable?
It's fine to take it off, it's just telling you not to trash the fan or something.
>>
>>54157255
Oh then okay about the yellow sticker but on the white one it says "Warranty void if removed", is it fine to keep it as is it? doesnt seems to move from that position when the fan is on..

They should both be fine to leave where they are unless they bother you.
If you remove the warranty void if removed sticker you'll void the warranty (duh).

You should route your front audio cable through that little cutout under the header and over the PSU.
You could probably get the front panel connectors to be under the mobo and through a hole in the tray somewhere too, if you cared enough.
>>54161392
That case puts the PSU over the motherboard, which would have the PSU and CPU cooler fighting for air if he flipped the fan around.

new fan on the T4. well, new to it, never used anyway. sat on the shelf for a few years, but it's alright.

can't wait to start using this full time when summer comes about and I have more free time to devote to migrating over from the other behemoth.

the other behemoth.

>10 year old Opterons
>10 year old motherboard
>10+ year old RAM
>13 year-old sound card
>varying ages of hard drives, some to migrate over based on capacity
>650Ti might as well...
>nForce

it's time.

I ever wondered, what are your system specs cockwizard?
>>
>>54163888
Its really time. I wonder how this machine performs nowadays, the Opterons are shit but you have two of them.

Getting nforce drivers for newer OS has gotten almost impossible, especially when you want working ones.

I love Silverstone's wacky vertical cases but it's a shame they've got the patent on them. It'd be great to see other manufacturers put their spin on the design.

It's a fantastic design, great for cooling and aesthetic as fuck. I had a vertical FT02 for ages but my video card didn't like being vertical and was overheating and throttling under any real load. Switched to an NZXT S340 and instantly lost 20c and gained around an extra 11% performance. It's a real shame, I loved that case.
>>
>>54165808
i still wana get a custom loop going in this case
everyone says its terrible to watercool but eventually im gonna do it and make it sexy as fuck.
and have the huge ass triple radiator mounted to the back
>>
>>54165842
I did that too. I had a massive fucking 180x30x540mm radiator in the bottom cooling my 8350, 7970, VRMs and northbridge. Ran the fans at 7v and the entire rig was completely silent.
>>
>>54165870
the dream.
yea one day ill probably do a completely fresh build in this case. i think ill leave it for a while so i can afford to go full overkill on the hardware and cooling
might be a real ricer and paint it too
depends.

Also in the mail for summer upgrade: A defective 780Ti with Accelero Hybrid cooler.

I got it for cheap, and will use the cooler for mine. Should be enough for some OC until BigPascal.

Not very pretty, but it's been solid to me for the last 5 years.

I would get a better CPU then. Broadwell-E or Zen if they bring something useful.
