The less packages you have, the higher your score is.

The one with the least packages wins

Ok, this is either some sort of server you're running here, or you're actually that fucking stupid and run gentoo on a gaming rig.

I don't fucking know m8. Wish I could start removing them, but I have no idea what any of them do. I can't just randomly start removing them.

What point of view? You're running gentoo on a powerful PC. That's just dumb. Do you at least dual-boot with Windows?
>>
>>54147487
Because I use an actually functional desktop environment.
>>
>>54147375
Love my 3770k. I literally have no reason to upgrade
>>
>>54147528
>What point of view?
Well, let's summarize:

1. You have no idea what operating systems I have installed on my PC
2. You have no idea what programs I run on my PC
3. You have no idea what I do with my computer in general
4. You have no idea where I got my hardware, how much I paid for it
5. You probably don't even have any idea what distinguishes Gentoo from other distros (Since you pointed out Gentoo specifically, as opposed to just referring to it as “Linux”)

You're the one sitting here name-calling somebody you don't even know online for the sake of some smug sense of superiority, and yet I'm supposed to be the dumb one?

Okay then.
>>
>>54147618
You're still retarded
>>
>>54147528
>running gentoo on a powerful PC. That's just dumb

Why is this a problem? Gentoo is not just for low powered machines.
>>
>>54147593
>I literally have no reason to upgrade
I do, actually. My 3770 is not powerful enough to do realtime software decoding (lavc) of ~30-40 Mbps 10-bit HEVC even with the OpenHEVC intrinsics patches merged into FFmpeg.

I'm considering an upgrade for that reason, but CPU upgrades are always a pain (requires a new mainboard and new memory. I love intel)
>>
>>54147494
What the hell are you talking about?
Running gentoo on a slow device would be more stupid, then it would take more time to compile stuff.

Same, most of it for haskell libraries. They're all packaged individually on my system, because my system's package manager is actually powerful enough to do so.

He just hates Arch because he's a /v/tard and thinks everybody who uses arch does it to look cool, and hates the GTX 970 because his games start stuttering after 3.5 GB.

That plus trained knee jerk reactions to familiar stimulus.

Actually the GTX 970 is literally the lowest-specced nvidia card that's capable of playing chinese cartoons at 4K with ewa_lanczos upscaling.

That's why I got it. (And yes, I did the math)
