I'm warning you, you little edgy cunt.

Meh...

Isn't Freenet basically dead these days? Every time I install a client and take a look there's less content and more porn, rubbish and shitty un-updated anarchist blogs.

Jean-Claude Cousseran, Directeur Général de la Direction Générale de la Sécurité Extérieure (DGSE), told Irak's National Security Council/Bureau [Maktab al-Amn al-Qawmi] about Reunion Island frenchelon station : a covert agent sent TsSR (NIS Tsienntral'naya Sloujba Razviedki)`s cypherpunk & mixmaster remailers logs to Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) !

Why do you not insert content you would like to see, in my opinion porn has slowed down more and more and now just NSA leak/paranoid has increased.

>>54128957
Why what's your issue with it?
>>
>>54128976
Most people aren't supposed to know about it. The less that know about it the better.

It's not that. Most people who use it seek asylum from repressive governments and religions. Yeah we have bad eggs but that's the price that we all pay for near 100% perfect anonymity
>>
>>54129030
The more users with different ranges or content, the more anonymous it is to run freenet.

Also how many darknet peers do you have?
>>
>>54129046
>The more users with different ranges or content, the more anonymous it is to run freenet.
But we also get more government and religious groups who try to break anonymity or monitor communications. Unfortunately less is more here at the end of the day.

>Also how many darknet peers do you have?
I don't want to reveal that information. I'm gonna go, someone we don't like is probably already monitoring this thread. Try to keep your trap shut about us m8. It's already bad enough that we have to face dial up speeds on our shitty network.
>>
>>54128986
>Most people aren't supposed to know about it. The less that know about it the better.
That's not how these things work.
At all.

>>54128961
>Why do you not insert content you would like to see,
Well, mainly because I'm more interested in I2P. It's also smallish, but it offers more broad services than just Freenet's content-retrieval: IRC, bittorrent, Tahoe-LAFS etc.
Also, I've heard bad things about the security of Freenet. Unfortunately nothing concrete enough to cite, but still.

>>54129008
Are you trying to accomplish something?

>>54129107
>But we also get more government and religious groups who try to break anonymity or monitor communications. Unfortunately less is more here at the end of the day.
If that's really the case, then the system was already broken from day one.

>Try to keep your trap shut about us m8.
No. These things only help people if people use them.
>>
>>54129107
I hope you are still lurking
>But we also get more government and religious groups who try to break anonymity or monitor communications. Unfortunately less is more here at the end of the day.
The more users for attacking the network the better we know that it does what it needs to so more high risk targets can join it.
> It's already bad enough that we have to face dial up speeds on our shitty network.

I get about 300kbs down on a older file and have some hit 1mbs down

>>54129130
IRC already is implemented in Freenet, look into the FLIP plugin here is a link.

How does that work? Is it just submitting each message as an item to then network?
What are the propagation delays like?
>>
>>54129355
the delay seems to be about 30 seconds.
afaik, you publish messages using a known private key, and subscribe to the public key.
>>
>>54129334
xD
>>
>>54129355
30 seconds to 1min.

It uses a SSK key for each profile and just pushes the newest message. I believe their are some scaling issues, and there is no built in spam protection outside of what your client provides.
>>
>>54129334
Proved wrong.

How do you instal frost (and get it running) on linux? I have jar file and I try to run it with java but nothing happens

java -jar file.jar

if you want real discussion try FMS.

Is FMS better than Frost?

Yes, less spam, no CP, most of the developers actually post on it too.

Check out SONE, FLIP, FMS, and learn to manage your own freesite/flog.

>>
>>54132968
i.e. fucking nothing.
>>
>>54133063
Let's see you get 10,000 users to store 140 Terabytes in a way that NO ONE can remove the data inserted into it.
>>
>>54133170
I am literally standing on a single 27TB dataset right now. I could, alone, attempt to monopolize 20% of the whole network. And I'm a single person, not 10k, let alone a realistic endgame target like 500m-1b.
>>
>>54133216
If your data set has no interests of other users it will fallout of use, also as we get to 500m users each of them will donate more datastore thus increasing the network.

Oh, that old chestnut. Ian got a B designing that.

Java's crypto and network libraries are really, really amazingly shit and are responsible for a large amount of Freenet's terrible performance - along with its design, of course, and I never liked the "plausible deniability" meme, it's not a strong enough defence against any realistic threat model.

And I never want to work with Java ever again, especially for a network-facing crypto-heavy app - that's why I worked on I2P's design but bailed on the implementation when jrand0m announced what language he was using.

Also I know the Freenet logo is supposed to be a white rabbit jumping over... something, but I now can't help but see the chalk outline of a dead man with a boner.
>>
>>54137286
Plausible deniability has been potentially broken as of this PDF, http://www.megafileupload.com/j8Q5/Freenet_Investigations_White_Paper_-Black_Ice__(090413).pdf
