Be careful of the Verizon gsm lockout with used models though. If it's ever been on a gsm carrier, Verizon won't activate it. That's how it was last I checked, at least.

Kindle is different, no a lot of free content and Google Books still unavailable in my country. Also importing whatever into iBooks is easy peasy and the reader itself is great and so are fonts/resolution for reading.

I had a 2nd gen Moto G. It was fine. Except sometimes it lagged like crazy and the battery life was deceptively short. It's left me practically stranded on unknown locations a couple of times before because I had been using Waze for a couple of hours.
Now I appreciate bigger battery life more.
But hey, if you don't need to make tours to the hellish void of the unknowns on a frequent basis.
The camera was unmistakeably crap though, no way to defend it.

Yeah I'm not a big pictures guy anyway. As long as the phone can let me make calls, listen to some music, browse the internet and maybe watch a few things on youtube here and there I'm happy.

It's far too small and I have no interest in Apple's ecosystem (iOS, iTunes, etc). I overpaid for it new on a carrier two years ago because I was warned it was my only viable option (started a job overseas, every expat told me I needed an iPhone).
My eye (I can only see out of one) isn't great, do I've always been interested in large-screen phones. The S-pen just seems like a cool feature.
I've essentially stopped using my laptop since getting a smartphone, so now a phablet seems like an even more obvious choice.
I'm not married to the Note, but given my circumstances I haven't seen anything nearly as compelling.

If you're on Boost I would suggest checking out the ZTE Warp Elite. It's got a little more oomph than the Moto E, but expect to pay more.
That being said, if that's all you use your phone for the Moto E will be just fine. Just remember to get the 2015 version
